Part II: 3DMAX Menu Annotation
I. File menu
New: Clears all contents in the scene without changing the current scene system settings. At the same time, the command can choose to keep the objects in the scene and their levels for the new scene. The shortcut key is ctrl+n.
Reset: Clear all current data and restore the original system settings.
Open: 3ds max scene file or character modeling file will be opened. The shortcut key is ctrl+o.
Save: the changes in the current scene will be saved, and the last save operation will be overwritten. The shortcut key is ctrl+S.
Save As: A corresponding dialog box will open, allowing you to save the current scene or character with a different name and path.
Save Selected Objects: Allows you to select one or more objects in the current scene and save them as a scene file. All objects and PPP related to the selected object will be saved.
External Reference Object: This command allows you to reference objects in other scene files to the current scene. You can modify the object, or choose to update the object to apply the changes of the source file.
External Reference Scene: This command allows you to refer to other scenes as the background or foundation of the scene.
Merge: You can copy and merge objects from other scene files into the current scene as part of the current scene.
Merge animation: animation data can be transferred from objects in another scene or the current scene to the currently selected object, combined object or hierarchical object, and several animation data can be merged at the same time.
Replace: Allows you to replace an object in the scene with another object.
Import: Allows you to open or merge files in non-3ds max format in 3ds max. Such as 3ds/dwg/ai/dxf files.
Export: Allows you to convert a scene or object and output it as a file in a non-3ds max format.
Export Selection: Select the Export command to export the geometry to 3ds/ai/dxf format.
Archive: This command will create an executable compressed file containing the current scene file and all related maps. You can also choose to create a list file that lists all associated paths.
Summary information: This command will open the statistics dialog box of the current scene and list information, including the number of objects and patches in the scene.
File properties (file belongs to PPP): This command allows you to enter information related to the file for quick viewing in Windows system.
View image files: commands to view pictures and dynamic files. Files that can be selected in the open dialog box can be viewed by add-ons.
History: Displays the recently saved files, and you can click Open directly.
Exit: This command can exit the 3ds max main program.
Second, edit the menu
Undo or Redo: This command will undo or redo the last change to the selected object. The shortcut key is ctrl+z/ctrl+y.
Hold and Fetch: This command can save the current data in the buffer before you perform one or more irreversible operations. When you are dissatisfied with the results or the software crashes, you can use the export command to restore the retained scene file data. The shortcut key is alt+ctrl+h/alt+ctrl+f.
Delete: This command can directly delete the currently selected object from the scene. The shortcut key was deleted.
Clone: Hold down the Shift key and move, rotate or scale the object at the same time to realize this command. You can copy, associate copy or reference copy the selected object. The shortcut key is ctrl+v.
Select All: This command will select all objects in the scene. The shortcut key is ctrl+a.
Unchecked: This command leaves all objects in the scene unselected. The shortcut key is ctrl+D.
Selection Inversion: This command deselects all selected objects in the scene and selects unselected objects. The shortcut key is ctrl+i.
Selection Basis: This command * * * has six submenus. Used for color (color selection), name (name selection), rectangular area (rectangular selection), circular area (circular selection), sector area (point selection) and lasso area respectively. That is, according to the color PPP and name of different objects.
Area: This command * * * has two low-level menus. Window (including) drag a square selection box in the scene with the mouse and select all the included objects; Cross is used to drag a square selection box in the scene with the mouse, and all the objects that contain and intersect are selected.
Name Selection Set: This command allows you to name object sets selected in different ways for management.
Object Properties: This command displays the PPP dialog box, where you can view and edit the selected object.
Three. Tools menu
Transform Input: This command displays a dialog box that allows you to accurately input data for moving/rotating/scaling the target object.
Display floating box: the dialog box displayed by this command contains most functions of the display control panel, and can float in the window to facilitate the display control of the window.
Select Floating Box: This command displays a dialog box similar in function to the name selection dialog box. You can select objects by name.
Light Lister: This command displays a dialog box, which can control the function parameters of each lamp in the scene and the global lighting settings of each lamp.
Mirror: This command displays the mirror dialog box, which allows you to mirror and copy objects according to their orientation.
Array: This command displays the Array dialog box, and you can copy the objects in the array.
Align: This command displays a dialog box that allows the selected object to be aligned along the X/Y/Z axis, and can select the maximum and minimum values or the central axis. The shortcut key is alt+a.
Snapshot: This command displays a dialog box that allows you to copy multiple copies of an animated object. You can create copies every frame, time unit and distance unit.
Spacing tool: This command displays a dialog box that allows you to distribute the copied objects at equal intervals. Copies can be distributed according to the center distance, margin and polar axis distance.
Normal Alignment: This command can align two objects in the normal direction of the surface. The shortcut key is alt+n.
Align Camera: This command allows you to align the camera with the normal direction of the selected object surface.
Align View: This command allows you to align the axis direction of the selected object with the axis direction of the current window.
Place Highlight: This command can align the relative position of a lamp or object with another object so that the highlight or object image is visible in the current view. The shortcut key is ctrl+X.
Isolation Selection: This command can isolate the scene other than the selected object from other objects. You can avoid the influence on other scene objects when operating the selected object. The shortcut key is alt+Q.
Rename Object: A powerful rename command, and the displayed dialog box allows you to uniformly name the objects in the scene.
Fourth, the group menu
Group: This command can combine multiple selected objects or groups into a group and edit it as a single object in the scene.
Ungroup: This command can disperse the objects that have been combined into a group into multiple original objects.
Open: This command can temporarily open a group and edit the objects in the group separately.
Close: this command can close the opened group again. For multiple groups, after closing the outer group, the inner group will be closed.
Attach: This command can merge the attachments of the selected object into an existing group.
Detach: This command can detach objects in a group. This command needs to be used with the open group command.
Decomposition: This command disperses all objects in the group, regardless of hierarchy. The ungroup command only scatters the outermost components.
Verb (short for verb) View menu
Undo View Change/Redo View Change: Cancel or redo the window change command to undo the last change to the window.
Save Active View/Restore Active View: Save or Restore Current Window command saves the currently highlighted window settings.
Window Configuration: This command displays a dialog box for setting window control options. You can set the window as required and save it as a maxstart.max file as the initial window of 3ds max.
Grid: This command * * * has four submenus, among which:
Show main grid is used to show or close the original grid display in the current window. The shortcut key is g.
Activating the main grid (active original grid command) is used to make the original grid in the window the current grid, thus making the grid objects inactive.
Activate grid object (activate grid object command) is used to make one grid object in the window the current grid and make other grids inactive.
Align Grid with View (Grid and Window Alignment command) is used to align grid objects with the equivalent coordinates of windows, so as to modify and set objects.
Viewport Background: This command dialog box can load and control the background image of the current window. The shortcut key is alt+B.
Update Background Image: This command will be updated after resetting the background, setting parameters and setting the aspect ratio of the window.
Reset Background Transformation: This command rescales and resets the changed window background.
Show transformation Gizmo: When moving or rotating an object, the auxiliary axis coordinate system of the object is displayed in the window.
