Personal experience
From the late 1980s to the 1990s, Liao Benrong began to cooperate with new film directors, such as He Ping's "The Underworld", Wang Tong's "Banana Paradise", Zhou Yanzi's "Youth Without Regrets", Chen Yuxun's "Tropical Fish", etc. In 1991, Tsai Ming-liang directed his first film "Young Nezha" at China Film and Television. He found Liao Benrong through the producer. The two did not know each other at first, but they hit it off right away. Except for "A Few Points", he collaborated with Liao Benrong in all of his films. He also showed his clean and fresh style and steady and powerful camera movements in Tsai Ming-liang's works.
