Beijing Botanical Garden Sleeping Buddha Temple

"Plum blossoms don't freeze bones?" Chimonanthus praecox is the earliest flower in Beijing, which usually blooms after the Spring Festival and lasts until the middle and late March. When it comes to wintersweet, you have to mention the reclining Buddha temple.

Enter from the south gate of Beijing Botanical Garden, go straight along the central axis and find the reclining Buddha Temple. Because it is the earliest flowering in a year, Chimonanthus praecox in the reclining Buddha Temple has the reputation of "the first branch in Beijing". There are about 60 wintersweet plants in the temple, which are distributed in every corner of the temple, especially in front of the mountain gate. Chimonanthus praecox is in full bloom, flourishing, sparse and shallow, reflecting the red walls and incense niches of the temple, adding a bit of Zen to the artistic conception of flower viewing. There is also a cluster of Chimonanthus praecox on the east side of Tianwang Temple, which is said to have been planted in Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty, and is called "the crown of Chimonanthus praecox in Beijing".

From February to March every year, Chimonanthus praecox plants compete to open, and you can smell the fragrance dozens of meters away. Summer Palace Lenongxuan

Legend has it that Le Nong Xuan in the Summer Palace was built by Empress Dowager Cixi to experience "pastoral fun". With blue brick walls and stone roofs, the architecture not only pursues the artistic conception of the farmhouse courtyard, but also keeps the charm of the architecture in the royal garden.

Not only does the building have a story, but even the wintersweet in the yard is quite special. The wintersweet here is not wild, it is planted artificially. The color of flowers is slightly different from that of semi-wild Chimonanthus praecox. It is not bright yellow, but yellow-green, which looks better. These wintersweet are small and exquisite, and you can clearly feel the petals like batiks in the sun. The age of this tree is about 70 years old. After several generations of gardening technicians' cultivation, this tree is beautiful, with many flowers, special fragrance and more ornamental.

After the wintersweet period, the peach blossoms in Xidi Mountain in the Summer Palace are in full bloom, and the peach blossoms stretching for several kilometers are spectacular. In addition, there are magnolia, February orchid, Viola yedoensis, Jasminum nudiflorum and Viburnum japonicum in the park.
