Su Mingjuan's annual land harvest is only enough for the whole family to eat for three months, so in order to support this family, Su Mingjuan's father needs to spend more time going up the mountain to cut wood and catch eels, and his mother works harder. Life is so hard, and the road to study is even harder.

It takes more than an hour to go to school in Su Mingjuan by mountain road, and there is also a boat on the way. Their classroom is dilapidated and can't cover the wind and rain at all. In winter, the wind blows in through the window and there is not enough paper. Without fire, the children huddled up with cold. But even under such double difficulties, Su Lijuan still didn't give up his desire to study.

"We insist on reading, but we are passionate," Su Mingjuan said.

Although Su Mingjuan has a strong desire to study, her family financial situation does not allow her to continue her studies. The tuition fee of 100 yuan per semester is even worse for this already poor family.

But in the spring of 199 1, a photo accidentally taken by the famous photojournalist Jie Hailong, that is, a photo of Su Mingjuan's eyes revealing "I want to go to school", made all this turn for the better. You know, at that time, Su Mingjuan had dropped out of school twice because the conditions did not allow.

At first, a student named Li Wan was deeply moved by her desire to go to school after seeing a photo of Su Mingjuan in the newspaper. She immediately asked the school to find her, and then sent her a tuition fee of 100 yuan every semester to ensure that she could go to school. In addition, Li Wan often wrote letters to encourage her, which became a comfort for Su Lijuan to go through difficult times.

Since then, more and more good people have joined in helping Su Mingjuan. They sent daily necessities and school supplies to Su Mingjuan, and they have been encouraging Su Mingjuan. In this way, Su Mingjuan has been studying hard and was admitted to the Finance Department of Anhui University.

Be grateful and constantly strive for self-improvement

As the saying goes, "You can't forget to dig people when you eat." Su Lijuan will never forget those who helped him in his struggle. Many people offered to continue funding her to go to college, but Su Lijuan and his father declined politely. Su Lijuan's father said that his family had received enough help, and he hoped that future support could be left to those who needed help more.

This reminds me of the story of the famous singer Cong Fei. He participated in more than 400 benefit performances in his life and sponsored 183 children. But something unexpected happened. Cong Fei suddenly got stomach cancer, so he had to stop his charity performance and go to the hospital for medical treatment.

However, Cong Fei's treatment has been slow because all the money from charity performances is used to support children and there is not enough money for self-treatment. But what is even more chilling is that the parents of those sponsored children have been asking him when he can subsidize them again.

In contrast, the Su Lijuan family's contented and grateful character is so precious.

In the process of college life, Su Lijuan took part-time jobs in his spare time while studying, and the money earned from part-time jobs served as his living expenses. When the money she earned could pay for her tuition, Su Mingjuan applied to the school for grants to those who needed help more than she did.

Repay the society with a pure heart

Su Mingjuan once said in an interview that he was lucky. Indeed, she is also lucky. Because of that photo, with the help of society, she changed the dilemma of dropping out of school and got her own "new life". When someone asked him why he insisted on helping others through public welfare, Su Mingjuan just replied: "It seems that there is a mission to push me forward, try my best to give back to the society and help those in need."

In September 2005, after Su Lijuan officially started working, he donated all his first salary to Project Hope. Every year after that, she insisted on donating money, hoping to help more poor students like her change their destiny through reading.

Today, Su Mingjuan has been married to his high school alumnus for many years and has given birth to two lovely children. She didn't choose a dull life, but chose to run around, insist on donations, be keen on public welfare, and always repay the society with a pure heart.

However, the road to public welfare in Su Mingjuan is not smooth. For example, on 20 17, Su Mingjuan was elected as the Deputy Secretary of Anhui Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League (part-time), which caused controversy. Many people think that she has no political experience, but it is doubtful that she was elected to such an important position.

However, according to official website, although Su Mingjuan is also the deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee, she doesn't have to work in the Youth League Committee. She still works in the original unit and has no rights.

No matter how the outside world evaluates her, for Su Mingjuan, joining the Communist Youth League as a "new platform" is not to increase his ostentatious capital, but to help him call on more people to join public welfare, and nothing else.

At the same time, Su Mingjuan never forgot the help Project Hope gave her. As the image ambassador of Project Hope, she actively participated in charity publicity activities. She often goes to different places to call people's attention to Project Hope. Su Mingjuan saw that under his influence, many people joined in to help out-of-school children return to school. He felt that all the efforts were worthwhile.

In addition, Su Mingjuan has set up its own foundation to help poor college students go to school. In her view, knowledge can change fate. And she herself is the best interpretation of knowledge changing fate.

Some people say that this is an era of gradual indifference to reality. "It is difficult for the poor to have children." Poor people have no chance to go to college at all. However, Su Mingjuan told us that knowledge can change our destiny. We should not blame ourselves for social injustice, but should change ourselves when the environment cannot be changed.
