Homemade studio, what is the light used for? What light, cold light, warm light?

The configuration of self-made studio depends on the investment. If there is enough money and space, of course, professional studio flash is the first, so this need not be discussed. What we are discussing here is the shortage of funds and space.

The simplest thing is to prepare a few incandescent lamps, the most common light bulbs.

Some people may think that this kind of lamp is too simple and seems not cool enough, but it turns out that this kind of lamp is the most ideal light source besides sunlight and studio flash. The biggest advantage is not that it is cheap and easy to find, but that its spectrum is full color.

In addition, some people will say that the photos taken by incandescent lamps are too yellow and the color temperature is too low. In fact, this point was solved with optical film in the film age, but in the digital age, as long as you can use custom white balance, it can be solved perfectly. It can also be solved by taking a gray card.

The second alternative to incandescent lamps is to build a small studio with a detachable overhead flash of the camera.

The advantages of this scheme are stable color temperature, close to sunlight and full color spectrum.

The disadvantage is that the cost is not much lower than the flash in the studio, but it is smaller.

Use quartz lamp.

Photographers are used to it, with high brightness and full spectrum. Disadvantages are short service life and high cost.

Buy professional constant light equipment.

Now some very popular people have been using energy-saving lamps, and some use LED lamps, which look very close to sunlight and the spectrum is close to full color. They can be used for photography with low requirements, but products with strict color requirements cannot be used, because these lamps can only approach the full spectrum under the current technical conditions, and there is always a small amount of color deficiency.

Buy ordinary fluorescent lamps, energy-saving lamps or Led lamps.

This scheme is basically not recommended. If you don't buy it well, some lamps will have serious color cast due to the lack of spectral color, and they will not be adjusted back later.
