Comparison of Tuli and Canon 100 Micron Lens on Equipment Challenge 06 Platform
Budweiser? Lenses, that is, macro lenses with a focal length of 100mm (sometimes including 100mm or so), are very frequently used in macro photography. Because of the long focal length of this lens, a large proportion of images can be obtained at a long distance, which reserves flexible space for lighting and composition. At the same time, a longer focal length is also conducive to creating a soft Jiao Wai effect.

In addition to the original 100 micron lens, the three major factories have also introduced macro lenses with similar focal lengths, which can also reach the maximum magnification of 1: 1. We passed the "05 issue? Equip the ring?
Do you know anything about Longteng 90mm macro lens and Canon? Budweiser? The difference, Canon? Budweiser? Standing on a platform with greater performance advantages? Lord lei? Location. In this issue, we will let Tally's AT-X PRO Macro 100 F2.8 D challenge Canon Budweiser.

The AT-X series lenses launched by Tuli for digital SLR cameras are very exquisite in appearance, and a large number of solid metal materials are used to build the shell, which gives people a very reliable first impression. However, among the lenses of the three sub-factories, Tuli's price is often the most expensive among similar products, which affects its market share to some extent. However, Budweiser seems to be an exception, probably because Longteng SPDIAF 90mm1:2.8macro1:1is so famous. At present, the price of online shop is about 2925 yuan, while the price of Tulia T-X Pro Macro100F2.8d is slightly better, and it can be bought for less than 2800 yuan. Of course, these two models have obvious price advantages over the original Canon Budweiser's 3989 yuan. The following focuses on the performance differences between Tuli AT-X PRO Macro 100 F2.8 D and Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM. The test platform adopts Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
Although it looks like Longteng's 90mm macro lens, in fact, the lens structure of Tuli AT-X PRO Macro 100 F2.8 D is simpler, and the maximum magnification can also be 1: 1. In addition, it can be seen from the lens weight that the 100 micron lens of Tuli is more substantial than the 90mm macro lens of Longteng, but it is still lighter than the original 100 micron lens of Canon. The following is a detailed specification comparison between Tuliat-X Pro Macro100F2.8d and Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM:

General regulations
From the delicate and even wrinkled surface of Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D, we can still get the exquisite first impression of Tuli lens; And that kind of thick and tough grip will give the operator a reliable experience.

)
Compared with Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM, the macro lens of Tuli AT-X PRO 100 F2.8 D is shorter in appearance. However, Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM adopts internal focus design, and the overall length of the lens does not change with the focus state; When Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D is focused at close range, the front lens barrel will extend by about 50mm, which is longer than Canon EF1:2.8 USM lens. How does this affect the actual use? We will explain it on the next page.

Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D lens still uses focus mode? Clutch? Mechanism design, switching between manual and automatic focusing is realized by pushing and pulling the focus ring. This mechanism has been widely used in drawing lens and is very convenient to use.

)
Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D lens also provides a focus range split switch, through which the focus distance of the lens can be limited to the far segment, the near segment, or unlimited. This can save some focusing time when shooting different subjects. This design is more practical than Canon's focus range limit switch, because the focus range limit function of Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM can only be limited to a long distance or not.

Due to the different lens structures, the focusing performance of the two lenses is also different. In the whole focusing stroke of Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM lens, the working angle of the ring is only about 120 degrees, and the motion stroke of the focusing assembly is smaller, so the autofocus speed is quite fast, which is a very valuable feature for macro lens. Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D lens is different. First, there is no need for ultrasonic motor to drive, and second, the lens assembly has a long motion stroke, so that autofocus is time-consuming, noisy and inaccurate, and it can hardly be used when focusing at close range. Even if it is a little long-distance (more than 0.5 meters) autofocus, its focusing state is far less stable than Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM, which means that there will be more obvious distance deviation when focusing on the same point twice.

)
For the manual focusing of the lens, the lens with long component stroke in the focusing state is more convenient for delicate manual focusing control; Short-stroke lens facilitates faster and more efficient control. However, the general macro lens has few opportunities to be used in situations where rapid response is needed, which means that the gap between Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D and the original lens can still be regarded as a little advantage.
? Macro lens? Through this name, we can intuitively understand the characteristics of this kind of lens, that is, it can focus closer than the general lens. However, from the perspective of application requirements, macro? Using this lens is not our goal, our goal is to achieve greater image reduction ratio, and? Macro? It is just a way to achieve this goal and has to be adopted.

In fact, if you can get the same picture reduction rate, of course, the farther the lens is from the subject, the better, because it can try not to interfere with the subject. If the lens is too close to the object, it may cause projection, interfere with the object (if it is an animal) and so on.

In fact, even if the lens has the same focal length, different optical designs will get different focusing states. Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM lens has gained more free space in front of the lens through different designs compared with our tested Tuli and Longteng's sub-factory lens. When Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D and Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM are also in the latest focusing state, the distance between the lens front end of the former and the object is about 12 cm, while Canon EF100 mm/kloc.
In the imaging test, according to the method provided in the Imatest software reference, we use the test prototype to shoot the test target for many times under the illumination of 5000K standard color temperature lamp (the color rendering index is greater than 95%), and then use Imatest software to analyze and get the numerical value, and select the numerical value that can represent the average level or the average value of many tests to be listed in this paper.
Enhanced ISO 12233 Resolution Test Target
When testing the imaging resolution, we use the aperture priority mode of the test prototype and use the sensitivity of ISO 100 to shoot the test target that enhances the resolution of ISO 12233. The photos are stored in 16-bit RAW format, then converted to TIFF format without compression and sharpening, and then the local objects in the center and edge areas of the image are numerically analyzed by Imatest. The above is the resolution test target shot by AT-X PRO Macro 100 F2.8 D, and the red marked area is the test sample area. We use the MTF50 value obtained by Imatest analysis as a reference to examine the imaging resolution of the camera. The MTF50 value of the test results (unit: LW/PH, line width/image height) indicates the maximum number of black and white lines that the camera can distinguish per imaging height (contrast is 50%). The higher the numerical value, the higher the imaging resolution of the camera (lens).
The test results show that in the central area of the image, there is little difference between Tuli AT-X PRO Macro 100 F2.8 D and Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM, and the resolution is close to 2500LW/PH on EOS 5D II, so the detail restoration ability is quite good. However, with the decline of the edge quality of the picture, the performance weakness of Tuli AT-X PRO Macro 100 F2.8 D also appears, and the edge image quality declines more obviously, and the gap with Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM also becomes larger.
In order to verify the previous laboratory test data, we took a group of contrast samples and used the aperture f/5. Keep the same composition range and focal length as much as possible.
Compare the scenes taken.
It's really not easy to keep the same focus with two macro lenses. We took several sets of photos, which really confirmed the previous test conclusions. The following is a set of photos with high similarity:
The object in the central area of the image taken by Tuli AT-X Pro macro100f2.8d.
The object in the central area of the image taken by Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM.
Objects in the edge area of the image taken by Tuli AT-X Pro macro100f2.8d.
Objects in the edge area of the image shot by Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM.
Imaging dispersion: When analyzing imaging dispersion, we use the same analysis object as in the resolution test. This value has a great relationship with lens quality, and the lower the value, the better.
The test results show that the dispersion control of Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM at the edge of the picture is relatively good, which is also the reason that the imaging quality of Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D at the edge of the picture is not as good as that of Canon EF100 mm1:2.8.
When testing the shape distortion of imaging, we use the test prototype to shoot the square on the plane, and then use Imatest to test the distortion of imaging. The values in the list are SMIA TV distortion, and the closer to zero, the better. A positive value indicates that the imaging produces pincushion distortion, while a negative value is the opposite.
Test results of shape distortion of AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D imaging
EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM imaging shape distortion test results
Judging from the test value, the shape distortion of the two images is very small, almost negligible, and it is also reasonable for the fixed focus lens.
We use the wide-angle end of the test prototype to shoot an unfocused white object with uniform illumination, and then use software to test the loss of brightness, and get the ratio of the brightness of the corners to the highest brightness of the imaging center. This value can show the light loss at the corner of the lens and reflect the uniformity of the lens. Below 100%, the bigger the better.
Test results of loss of light at Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D full aperture.
Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM full aperture optical loss test results.
Under the full aperture, the dark angle of Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM is obvious, while the photo exposure of Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D is even. But after the aperture is reduced by about one step (to f/4), the difference between the two is very small.
When analyzing the imaging chromatic aberration of the two lenses, we use the test prototype to fix the color temperature setting, shoot the X-rite ColorChecker SG color test target with ISO 100 sensitivity, and then analyze the color to get the imaging color error data. In the color error diagram, the squares in the Lab color gamut coordinates represent the ideal color (standard color) of the subject, and the circles represent the imaging color of the camera under test.

According to the color test results, Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D is warmer than the original lens. We shot the same scene with camera automatic white balance outdoors, and the proofs also verified this conclusion:

Generally, the more regular the aperture shape, the closer it is to the circle, the softer and smoother the image out of focus, and the more comfortable the visual effect of the photo. We often have film friends who call Canon Baiwei? Like cream? That's what greasy Jiao Wai means. Generally, the more blades, the easier it is to make the aperture shape regular. Tuliat-x pro macro100f2.8d has one more blade than canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM. The following comparative samples also confirm this point? A slice? Effect? The imaging Jiao Wai effect of Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D is even softer than that of Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM.

For a macro lens with extremely shallow imaging depth like Tuli AT-X PRO Macro 100 F2.8 D, autofocus shooting is basically unreliable. Most of the time, we need. Slow work and fine work? This is also the fun of many movie friends shooting flowers and feeling the insect world at close range. In fact, if you are facing the commercial shooting subject of small objects such as rings and jewels, besides fine depth of field control, soft Jiao Wai effect is particularly important. For digital images, the importance of color has been weakened to some extent. Tuli AT-X PRO macro 100 F2.8 D lens, with soft Jiao Wai and slightly yellowish color, can meet the requirements of most photographers for equipment.
