What is the function of graphic composition in graphic design?

Point-line-surface composition

I believe that friends engaged in graphic design will be familiar with this, but this is something we have to face day and night. (I'll ignore the structural problems first, so I'll briefly explain them here. The so-called combination of points, lines and surfaces is to change their arrangement and surface morphology, and then combine them into a rhythmic graphic design. We can know from constant practice that the bigger the point, the closer it feels to us, and on the contrary, the farther it is from us. The same is true of lines and faces. In a page, if I have a big point (line or surface is ok) or a small point, then they are the opposite. In contrast, they give us the illusion that the smaller ones are far away from us and the larger ones are close to us. This shows a sense of space.

2, light and contrast

People who often practice sketching will realize this more easily. When we sketch a shape, we will add light and dark tones, and then we can subdivide it, that is, compare the dark parts again to produce a darker one. The same is true of the bright parts, the brightest ones and some slightly darker ones. Tone sketch is to create a "sense of space" of an object through constant comparison. I remember when I was drawing a real person, the teacher often said that people should of course draw images, but it is more important to draw people's sense of space.

We often see that many 3D works are cool, but they are not tight because the objects are made accurately, and the sense of space must be full! Imagine a 3D work, remove all colors and become a unified color. Can it be called cool?

Fuzzy & shape

This is also to be compared. If there are more than two objects in a work, then the two objects should be compared clearly and vaguely. Fuzzy, will feel secondary, far away. On the contrary, if you are clear, you will feel close to yourself and the position of the object is very important.

Friends who like photography know better that when you use the lens to express the main object, you should focus. The photographer can tell at a glance what "object" the author is shooting. Of course, we will focus on the main objects, and of course it is easy to ignore those vague backgrounds that are far away from us (only relatively speaking). Although you can ignore it, you can't be absent. Unless it is specific photography, if you take ordinary photography, there is only one object (or person) and nothing behind it. I really don't know if it's a photo. Friends who have the habit of sketching and master some sketching skills are more likely to understand this. For example, the main body is to draw a building, while the trees behind and the auxiliary objects beside it are bound to be taken as secondary by fuzzy methods. This is also a manifestation of "sense of space".

Step 4 color

Bright colors with high lightness and purity will feel closer to us than the opposite colors after comparison. Of course, the premise is the same as above, and it will feel much stronger under "contrast". I believe that good graphic design, web design … it is inevitable to have a sense of space, and I also believe in my own eyes. Of course, I don't deny that works without a sense of space are not good.
