Yanfu Yu's Personality Evaluation

Since his directing career, Yanfu Yu has directed 13 feature films. His films have a wide range of themes, including "Entrepreneurship" with industrial themes and "Summer Tales" with rural themes. There are both "Descendants" with the theme of revolutionary history and "Everyday Up" with the theme of children. At the same time, there are Lu Sheng's Love Song, which reflects the life of ethnic minorities, and Wan Muchun, which reflects the life of forest areas. Style is also colorful, as magnificent as entrepreneurship, as delicate as Lusheng love songs. There are comic colors like Smile, passionate and tragic colors like The Last Eight, and thrilling twists and turns like Xu Qiuying's case. The films he directed are structured, rules-oriented, rhythm-oriented, full of life and a strong sense of the times, and are good at showing the inner world of characters with details. This is Yanfu Yu's directing style.

Yanfu Yu advocates that movies should truly reflect life, extract valuable things from life, and give people inspiration and strength. In order to get this valuable thing, he went into the forest, went to the plain, went to the frontier and almost traveled all over the oil fields of the motherland. He once slept on a heatable adobe sleeping platform with a lumberjack, braved the cold of minus 40 degrees Celsius and watched the oil workers drill on the ice in the middle of the night. The director is the leader and director of film production, but Yanfu Yu thinks that the director should not impose his intention on photographers, actors and other comrades. Everyone has their own expertise, so they should respect each other, work together and give full play to their creativity on the basis of unified understanding. He asked the actors to rehearse before the actual shooting, pay attention to the character, life breath, and at the same time pay attention to discretion and leave room. Yanfu Yu took the famous words of Han Changli, a great writer in the Tang Dynasty, as his motto, and encouraged him to innovate in art. After ten years of turmoil, when he reviewed the road he had traveled and summarized his previous creations, he deeply felt that his films had many regrets. Not satisfied with his achievements and experience, he insisted on making new explorations. He spoke highly of the short stories of Lu Xun, a great writer in China, Chekhov, a Russian critical realist writer, and O Henry, a poet laureate in Manhattan, USA, and thought that their ideas were novel, subtle, meaningful, philosophical and thought-provoking.

He is determined to shoot this kind of "short story" film with few characters, little scene change, unique style and profound meaning. Forget-me-not is a work that he pursues very hard. This film describes the story of a rural girl Wen Wen and a rural doctor Hong Zhou who meet in adversity and sincerely help each other, and finally have love. The film is delicate, simple and lyrical, revealing the spiritual beauty of the characters. It is like a beautiful forget-me-not flower, which exudes the local flavor of the northern countryside; Like a tinkling mountain stream, it touches people's heartstrings. Yanfu Yu said, "I hope the cinema is quiet when I watch my movie, but now."

After walking out of the cinema, the hearts of the audience are still churning. "In order to make this film well, Yanfu Yu carefully selected the actors, reluctantly gave up some shots and changed hands twice; He led the film crew to Ji 'an and Mudanjiang three times and went to the Halahai grassland. He filmed the location under the scorching sun in Shan Ye and bathed in the cold wind to find the snow scene. All these can be a glimpse of an artist's painstaking efforts to realize his artistic pursuit.

Yanfu Yu attended the National Cultural and Educational Association and the Third and Fourth National Literary Congresses. He used to be the director of China Film Association and the executive director of Jilin Branch of China Film Association.
