A bird bigger than a sparrow and with a tuft of hair on its head is called a horned lark. There are 42 subspecies of a small songbird and a medium-sized black lark. Body length 15- 17cm, wingspan 3 1-35cm, weight 33-45g.

The hornlark has a brown to grayish brown upper body, a white forehead and a reddish brown top. There is a wide black stripe between the forehead and the top of the head, and both sides of the black feather stripe at the back are like the corners at the back of the head.

Larks inhabit dry mountains, deserts, grasslands or rocks. They live in groups during the non-breeding period, often fly short distances or run low, and feed on insects and grass seeds. The breeding season is May-August, and each nest lays 2-5 eggs. Distributed in America, Indian subcontinent and southwestern China.
