Examples of small satellites
"Experimental Satellite No.1" is China's first small transmission stereo mapping satellite, weighing 204 kilograms. It is jointly developed by Harbin Institute of Technology, China Academy of Space Technology, Changchun Institute of Optics and Mechanics of China Academy of Sciences and Xi Institute of Surveying and Mapping, and is mainly used for photogrammetry of land and resources, monitoring of geographical environment and scientific experiments of surveying and mapping. The satellite has adopted a number of micro-satellite frontier technologies, which has explored a new way for the development of micro-satellite technology in China.
At 23: 59 on April 18, 2004, the "Experimental Satellite No.1" jointly developed by Harbin Institute of Technology, China Academy of Space Technology affiliated to Aerospace Science and Technology Group, Changchun Institute of Optics and Mechanics of China Academy of Sciences and Xi Institute of Surveying and Mapping was successfully launched by the "Long March II C" carrier rocket from Xichang launch base. The satellite is operating normally and has started the space test mission.
The rocket ignited on time as scheduled, and after flying 10 minutes, the "test satellite 1" was released. After 30 seconds, release Naxing- 1. TT&C data from TT&C Center of Xi 'an Satellite show that two small scientific experimental satellites "Experimental Satellite No.1" and "Naxing No.1" have entered their respective predetermined orbits accurately, and the launch of one arrow and two satellites has been a complete success. Han Jiecai, dean of the Aerospace College of Harbin Institute of Technology, is a native of Bazhong, Sichuan. After the successful launch, he held our reporter's hand tightly and said, "I am so excited!" I hope that more Sichuan fellows will join our astronaut team! "
"Naxing-1" is a nano-satellite used for high-tech exploration and experiment, weighing less than 25 kilograms, which was developed and used by Tsinghua University and Aerospace Tsinghua Satellite Technology Co., Ltd.
In September, 2008, China Shenzhou VII photographed the outside of the spacecraft for the first time through a companion star (small satellite) in space.
