Tie-dye blending ratio

The tie-dyeing ratio is adjusted according to different dyes and fabrics. The amount of dye should be 5% to 10% of the total weight, and the amount of salt and alkali should be 1% to 2% of the total weight.

Tie-dyeing dyes usually use natural plant dyes, such as indigo, madder red, carmine and so on. When choosing dyes, we should pay attention to their bright color, good dyeing fastness, environmental protection and harmlessness. According to the required color depth, the selected dye is soaked in clear water for a period of time to fully extract the dye pigment.

The amount of dyes usually accounts for 5% to 10% of the total weight of cloth. The specific dosage can be adjusted according to the texture, color depth and dye concentration of the cloth. Generally speaking, for fabrics with loose texture and deep color requirements, the amount of dyes can be appropriately increased; For fabrics with tight texture and light color requirements, the amount of dyes can be appropriately reduced.

Amount of salt: salt plays a role in promoting dyeing and fixing color in tie-dyeing. The amount of salt usually accounts for 1% to 2% of the total weight of cloth. Sprinkle the salt evenly on the soaked cloth, and then knead it thoroughly to make the salt evenly penetrate into the cloth fibers.

Alkali plays a role in adjusting the pH value of dye solution in tie dyeing, which is helpful to improve the dyeing fastness. The amount of alkali usually accounts for 1% to 2% of the total weight of cloth. Dissolve alkali in clear water, and then soak the soaked cloth in lye for a period of time to make the cloth fully absorb the lye.

How to use tie-dyeing:

1. Preparation of dyes: Choose dyes suitable for tie-dyeing. Natural plant dyes, such as indigo and madder, are usually used. They are brightly colored and environmentally friendly. Mix the dyes in proportion, add appropriate amount of water and stir evenly for later use.

2. Wet cloth: Put the cloth to be tie-dyed in clean water and soak it thoroughly. Then gently squeeze out excess water to keep the fabric moist.

3. Tie cloth: Tie the wet cloth according to the designed pattern. You can tie the knot with rubber bands, threads, cloth strips and other auxiliary tools. The method of knotting can be diversified and can be tied into different shapes and patterns at will.

4. Dyeing: put the knotted cloth into the prepared dye to ensure that the cloth is fully soaked in the dye. Depending on the dye concentration and fabric texture, the dyeing time may be different. Generally speaking, the dyeing time varies from a few minutes to several hours. In the meantime, you can turn the cloth gently to make the dyeing more uniform.

5. Cleaning and air-drying: After dyeing, take the cloth out of the dye, rinse it with clear water, and remove the excess dye. Then dry the cloth to avoid direct sunlight, so as not to affect the color. After drying, the tie-dyed work is finished.
