The Icelandic volcano erupted on April 14

The Eyjafjallaj?kull volcano, located in the Ajafjallaj?kull in southern Iceland, began to erupt at 1 a.m. local time on April 14, 2010 (9 a.m. Beijing time). The eruption site was located in the capital of Iceland. 125 kilometers east of Reykjavik, melting magma and ice caps caused floods, and about 800 nearby residents evacuated urgently. In the aerial photo on the right taken by the Icelandic Coast Guard on April 14, 2010, an Icelandic volcano with a glacier on its top continuously ejects steam to form a plume of smoke. The latest eruption began on April 13, when lava spews from a nearby ice-free crater were weakening. The heat from the eruption rapidly melted the 650-foot-thick glacier covering the crater, which is part of Eyjafjallaj?kull.
