This technology was invented by the French inventor Joseph Nipps in 1826. This technology uses a special camera and tinplate coated with asphalt to shoot.

Niepce exposed the tin plate to sunlight to make the coating transparent. Then, he soaked the tinplate in a chemical liquid to make the exposed area opaque. This forms a picture. Although this technology is not as convenient as the digital camera we use today, it has become the basis for the development of photography technology and paved the way for the invention of cameras later.

The expansion of the discovery process of Nieps sunshine photography;

Nipps put the metal plate in lavender oil. The asphalt in the brightest part of the printed matter becomes hard due to strong exposure and cannot be dissolved by lavender oil, while the asphalt in the middle tone and dark part becomes soft due to weak exposure and is dissolved and washed by lavender oil one after another. In this way, the bright part of the printed matter becomes white. On the background of black metal plate, it appears as a positive image with similar tone and printmaking.

Nieps refers to this photographic method of permanently recording images on glass and metal plates through sunlight as sunlight etching.
