Qinghai Huangchuan Middle School was founded in 1938 as "Qinghai Huangchuan Middle School, which manages the Chinese and British boards". After investigation, the board of directors established a middle school at 1 13 mu of Jiaxiaozhuang land in the west of Xining, and named it "Qinghai Huangchuan Middle School". From 65438 to 0943, the school was handed over to the Central Ministry of Education and renamed as "National Qinghai Huangchuan Middle School" until the founding of New China. After the founding of New China, Huangchuan Middle School in Qinghai was successively changed to Xining No.1 Middle School in Qinghai Province, Experimental Middle School in Qinghai Province and Xining No.2 Middle School. 1984 officially changed its name to "Huangchuan Middle School in Qinghai".

In 2002, in order to optimize the allocation of educational resources and expand the effect of prestigious schools, Xining handed over the former Qinghai Electric Power School located in Sujiawan to Qinghai Huangchuan Middle School and established "Qinghai Huangchuan Middle School Hu Hai Road Branch". In 2005, it was officially named "Huangchuan Middle School in Qinghai".
