The photos are not clear, how to avoid them?

No matter what kind of subject matter you are shooting, getting clear photos is what every photographer wants. There are many online tutorials on the difficulty of getting clear photos, but in fact, it is not always possible to get good clarity, especially when taking photos under difficult conditions. In this photography tutorial, we will introduce four main reasons why images may not be clear enough, and show you how to avoid these problems.

Reason 1. Using too slow shutter speed

Exposure may lead to the problem of getting unclear photos 99% of the time, and too slow shutter speed will blur the image.

when the focal length is 24mm, the shutter speed is 1/32 second, which is enough to take this clear picture.

It is a very common mistake to use the wrong shutter speed, because it is easy to forget to change the shutter speed when you are in the wild. There are too many parameters to consider, ISO, aperture, composition, light … and then shutter speed. It looks a bit old-fashioned, but in the end, it will be easier and faster to spend time studying the camera and then use these parameters.

the exact shutter speed required depends on the specific situation. However, the rule of thumb is never to use a shutter speed slower than the focal length used (when shooting with a hand). This means that the shutter speed should not be less than 1/7 second for 7mm lens and 1/16 second for 16mm lens.

Remember, this is not an accurate calculation, but using this rule should provide you with guidance. Don't forget to enlarge the image captured on the big screen to check whether the border is clear.

Because the shutter speed is 91 seconds, a tripod is used here

If you need to use a lower shutter speed to get a certain effect in a photo or due to insufficient light, it is very important to use a tripod. This can improve the shutter speed without worrying about image blur. However, if you shoot with a tripod, don't forget to turn off the optical stabilizer in the lens or camera!

Reason 2. The lens is not good enough

It is not always possible to blame the photographer for unclear photos. Sometimes the camera may be the culprit. Although a high-quality camera will not make you a good photographer, in any case, the camera will affect the quality of photos, or rather, it is not the camera itself, but the lens.

cheap lenses don't produce ultra-clear images like professional lenses. Therefore, it is suggested to test the lens before buying it, and read the comments about it in advance, that is, people's evaluation of image clarity.

reason 3. camera vibration

even if the camera is mounted on a tripod with a slow shutter speed and you know that the lens is good enough, the photo may not be clear due to the micro vibration of the camera.

I can't understand why when I enlarge the LCD, almost all the images are blurred, the shutter speed of 7-2mm is slow enough to shoot with my hand, and the camera is mounted on a solid carbon fiber tripod and a remote shutter is used.

After several attempts, I figured out what happened and why the lens was a little blurred. This is because I didn't stand still when shooting the image.

if you use a long focal length, the camera vibration and the jitter in the photo will become more obvious. when you use a long focal length, even a small vibration will lead to blur.

there are many reasons for camera vibration. The above example may not be the most common. When the tripod is in a river, on a bridge, or when the shutter button is pressed with your finger, it may be shaken by wind and waves (therefore, it is recommended to use a remote shutter).

reason 4. weather reason

you can't always blame yourself or the camera for taking unclear photos. Sometimes the weather is the main reason, which may lead to the inability to obtain a clear image.

when using a telephoto lens, please remember to zoom in 1% at most on the LCD screen to see if the photos are clear

when shooting with a digital SLR camera, it is best to use real-time display and zoom in 1% to check the clarity, which should let you know whether you can take clear photos.

Summary

I hope these useful skills for becoming a professional photographer can help you get clear photos next time.
