How to take a shift-axis photography?

Shift-axis photography is a special photography technique, which changes the distribution of depth of field and perspective effect by moving the optical axis position of camera lens. The following are some basic steps of shifting axis photography:

1. Prepare the required equipment: Shift-axis photography usually requires the use of a SLR camera or a medium-format camera, equipped with an inclined shift-axis lens or a shift-axis adapter.

2. Determine the shooting theme: Choose a suitable theme for off-axis photography, such as city street view, architecture, scenery, etc. These themes can produce good results when the lens is off-axis.

3. Set up the camera and lens: Fix the camera and axis shifting lens on a tripod to ensure stability. Adjust the focal length and aperture of the lens according to the shooting theme and the required effect.

4. Adjust the axis shift position: adjust the position of the optical axis by rotating or moving the axis shift lens. Axis-shifting lens usually has two kinds of axial adjustment capabilities: axis-shifting up and down and axis-shifting left and right. By adjusting these axes, the depth of field distribution and perspective effect can be changed.

5. Focus and exposure: Choose the appropriate focus method to focus on the theme. Use aperture priority or manual exposure mode to set appropriate exposure parameters according to light conditions and required effects.

6. Composition and shooting: Find the ideal composition by moving the lens axis and observing the viewfinder, and ensure that the theme and important elements are in the required focus and position. Press the shutter and take a photo with the axis shifted.

7. Post-processing: import the shifted photos into the computer and use image processing software for post-processing. You can further adjust the color, contrast and sharpness to enhance the effect of photos.

1, regular triangle method: divide the picture into nine equal grids, and put the main body near the intersection or straight line to create a more attractive composition.

2. Enhancement of foreground depth: By adding elements, such as trees, flowers or other objects, the layering and depth of photos can be increased.

3. Use natural light: Light is a vital element in photography. Try to use soft natural light and avoid direct glare to get a softer and more balanced photo effect.

4. Looking for a unique angle: Try shooting from different angles and heights to show the uniqueness of the subject. Squat, elevation and low angle can create different visual effects.
