Evolution of Changzhou Gou Formation

Gao Zhenxi, Xiong Yongxian and Gao Pingyuan called 1934 "Great Wall Quartzite", which refers to the unconformity of a set of glutenite and quartzite sandstone on Archean gneiss and under Chuanlinggou shale. 1958, a series of strata from "Great Wall Quartzite" to Gaoyuzhuang Formation were called "Great Wall System" by Shen and Liao Dacong. Chen Ronghui and Lv Zongbin (1963) thought that the names of two special strata with affiliation could not use the same place name, so they were renamed as "Huangyaguan Formation". Yu (1964) pointed out that this formation was not exposed near Huangyaguan due to faults, but it was best exposed in Changzhou Village, so it was suggested to rename it "Changzhou Village Formation". 1964 "the scene meeting of the sinian system in Jixian county" was decided to change its name to changzhougou formation due to the dispersion of Changzhou village, which has been in use ever since.
