Why is acrylate sealant easy to dry after long-term storage?

Since 1970s, sealant has been used for joint sealing of building structures, and has gradually become the main material. Such materials can be classified in two ways: functional and basic polymers. It is very important to classify products according to their uses and sealing functions. There are glass curtain wall joint sealant, concrete joint sealant, stone joint sealant, mildew-proof joint sealant, metal color plate joint sealant, window joint sealant and so on. There may be fire sealant, insulation sealant and anti-corrosion sealant as required. Their physical and mechanical properties are classified according to ISO 1 1600 standard. Classification of basic polymer types is not important for design and material selection, product research and engineering application. The key is that each product meets the purpose and specific functional requirements. First, list several sealants and related technical requirements.

1) curtain wall glass joint sealant

At present, the sealant used to seal the glass joints of curtain wall is basically silicone sealants. The appearance is viscous fluid, which can be extruded by one component. After extrusion, it does not sag or deform, and the color is mainly black. It can be used for bonding and sealing curtain wall glass and glass joints under the alternating action of sunshine, rain, snow, wind pressure and other environmental conditions for a long time, and can also be used for sealing other joints of building glass. According to the displacement capacity and modulus, it is divided into four grades.

2) Building window sealant

Sealants for sealing and assembling windows, window frames and window panes. The appearance is viscous fluid, which can support extrusion by one component, and does not sag or deform after extrusion. Colors are transparent, translucent, brown, white, black and so on. Products are divided into three grades according to modulus and displacement. This sealant is mainly used for joint sealing and does not bear structural stress. The sealant that meets the requirements can be silicone, modified silicone, polyurethane, polysulfide, etc. The seal of that porthole window frame can be silicified acrylic acid or acrylic acid.

3) Joint sealant for concrete building

Definition: sealant used to seal deformation joints of concrete building roofs and walls.

The appearance is one-component support, which can squeeze viscous fluid.

Due to the wide range of service conditions such as component materials, dimensions, service temperature, structural deformation and foundation settlement, the requirements for joint displacement ability and sealant durability are quite different. Products include all six grades from grade 25 to grade 7.5. According to the fluidity, it can be divided into n types-used for vertical seams, which will not sag and deform after extrusion; S-type-used for self-leveling of horizontal joints. It mainly includes neutral silicone sealants, modified silicone, polyurethane and polysulfide, and also includes acrylic acid, silicified acrylic acid, butyl sealant and modified asphalt caulking paste. The latter three types are mainly used for joint sealing in buildings.

4) Moldproof sealant

Sealants that do not mold themselves or inhibit mold. The appearance is one-component support, which can squeeze viscous fluid.

Products are classified into 0 grade and 1 grade according to mildew resistance, and 20LM grade, 20HM grade and 12.5E grade according to modulus and displacement. Mainly used for joint sealing in kitchens, bathrooms, bathrooms, integral bathrooms, aseptic operating rooms, operating rooms, microbiology laboratories and sanitary ware.

5) Stone joint sealant

Natural stone joint sealant for building curtain wall and decoration. The appearance of one-component scaffold can squeeze viscous fluid.

Classification: This sealant is divided into five grades according to its displacement ability and modulus. Used for waterproof, weatherproof sealing and decoration of natural stone joint structures such as granite and marble. Suitable sealants include neutral silicone sealants, polyurethanes, polysulfides and acrylic sealants.

6) Building sealant for coated steel plate

Color coated steel joint sealant for light steel structure building. The appearance is a one-component bracket, which can squeeze viscous fluid and has various colors close to steel plate. There are seven grades of this sealant. The products that meet the standard requirements are mainly neutral silicone sealants, polyurethane and polysulfide elastic sealant. It is mainly used for waterproof, anticorrosion and weatherproof sealing of color-coated steel joints in light steel structure buildings. Due to the large thermal expansion coefficient of steel, the maximum displacement capacity of the product can reach 50%; The stable bonding of sealant is related to the color coating material, which requires the product to have good bonding and peeling strength.

Three Different Sealants for Base Polymer

1) silicone sealants for building

Definition: Sealant based on silicone liquid silicone rubber.

Appearance: Viscous fluid can be squeezed and solidified when it meets moisture in the air, and at the same time release low molecular products.

The products with acetic acid or formic acid precipitated by product curing are acidic adhesives, and the products without acidity are neutral adhesives, such as dealcoholization, ketoxime, deamination, etc. Acid sealant is easy to cause metal corrosion and concrete acidification, but it has good adhesion to glass; Neutral sealants are widely used, but it should be noted that some dealcoholized products have delayed curing or even no curing after storage.

Silicone sealants has the characteristics of high temperature stability, low temperature flexibility, good elasticity, weather resistance, water resistance and stable adhesion to glass. However, silicone sealants is not suitable for parts that need painting after application, nor for parts that suffer from tearing, abrasion and perforation. It should also be noted that some products are easy to leak oil and pollute the substrate. There are one-component products and two-component products. According to the purpose, it is divided into two categories: concrete, aluminum alloy and glass. Products are divided into four levels according to replacement capacity.
