Does Nikon D5300 have time-lapse photography function?
D5300 itself has no time-lapse shooting function, let alone 5300. Most SLR cameras on the market basically don't have this function. But it can be solved by connecting a computer and using software automatic control.
The star orbit shooting required by the landlord is actually not time-lapse photography, but long exposure. You can use B-door. A B-door exposure is actually not enough to shoot a good star orbit, unless your environment is really good, there is almost no light pollution, and the camera should be cooled down. Otherwise, multiple exposures are required.
Taking a still photo, no matter how long the shutter is exposed, the generated file size is theoretically the same. In JPG, the file size is slightly larger than your number of pixels. After five hours of continuous exposure, a photo is still more than ten megabytes.
