Two in one camera bag

Panasonic classic LX has also recently undergone a large-scale redesign. At first glance, there seems to be no obvious change because the basic design of its appearance still inherits the previous style. However, in fact, the change range of LX7 this time is quite large. Not only has the size been slightly adjusted, but also new elements have been added in the operation design. The lens has also evolved from the original maximum aperture of 2.0 to the maximum aperture of 1.4, and it is no longer just a product of dog tail and mink hair.

As soon as I received the LX7 provided by Panasonic, I always felt an indescribable strangeness. However, I borrowed his LX5 from yeager, and finally found the reason, because the size of LX7 is one size larger than LX5, and the front lens is also a whole circle larger. In addition, the battery weighs nearly 30 grams more, and there is one more button on the back of the machine than LX5. The design of built-in flash is as vertical as LX5, so it is impossible to jump lights.

In addition to the original camera scale and focusing method, the outer ring of LX7 lens also has a mystery at the front end. Different from the multifunctional electronic rotating ring given by the general portable computer, this ring of LX7 is actually an aperture control ring, and the feel is not stepless control, but physical control, and the aperture is fixed, unlike stepless turning or accidentally turning to the aperture setting without knowing it.

There are ND and manual focus buttons on the back of the machine. When pressed, the ND filter can be activated. In manual focusing mode, this small lever is responsible for selecting the focus segment. Generally speaking, the manual focusing of this kind of portable computer is mostly done by the multifunctional rotator on the outer ring of the lens, or by pressing a button and adjusting it by the dial or the cross key. The design of LX7 can save users who are used to manually determining the focus from switching, but it also makes the buttons on the back of the whole machine look more complicated.

As for the ND filter, LX7, which is inconvenient to unfold the sleeve and protect the mirror surface, is more flexible in photography. The so-called ND filter, also known as subtracter, can reduce the amount of near light of the camera, thus extending the shutter speed of shooting. In application, you can shoot large aperture shallow depth of field through ND filter under strong light, and there will be no overexposure of photos. Or when shooting tracks at night, use ND filter to extend the shutter speed, so as to shoot longer tracks.

In terms of hardware, although both LX7 and LX5 are 1065438+ megapixels, the original11.63-inch CCD has been replaced by a brand-new/1.7-inch CMOS, with a native ratio of 3:2, and the video recording capability has also been improved from 720p of LX5. Moreover, the built-in microphone on the top of the set has also become a stereo design, and the brand-new CMOS components can be expected to perform better than the original CCD under the high ISO theory.

The LCD on the back of the machine is 3 inches, but the screen quality has been improved from 460 thousand pixels to 920 thousand pixels, but there is still no novel touch design. Set-top box keeps a good tradition, and can expand the flash and electronic viewing window. If you are an LX series user, you already have an electronic observation window or an external flash, and even the battery can be used directly.

However, compared with LX5, the biggest highlight of LX7 hardware design is the newly designed lens group, which abandons the long-standing equivalent design of 24~90mm F2.0~F3.2, and is a brand-new equivalent lens with a large aperture of 24 mm ~ 90mm F 1.4 ~ F2.3. Besides, it also advertises the use of high-order nano-coating technology. The brand-new lens is easier to create a shallow depth of field effect than in the past, and the large aperture at the far end also helps.

In terms of special effects, in addition to inheriting Panasonic's proud diverse situational mode and iA mode, the creative control mode has also added an artistic mode as profound as GF5. In the creative control mode, you can directly change the creative control mode by pressing the menu button. In addition, there is a built-in zoom photography function in the system menu? , which can be used with creative control mode. However, due to some problems encountered by the author, the file of the short film shot at this time was damaged and could not be uploaded to Orz.

In addition, LX7 has added electronic level, which is very important for landscape composition. The method used is still aiming at the green line to know whether the current camera angle is skewed.

The size of the box can be adjusted according to the usage habits. If you want to shoot big scenes, you can set the box bigger. As for shooting small things, you can also reduce the box to a very small size for accurate focus.

The jump is a thumbnail of a photo taken by GF5. I'm sorry that the original file is in the company computer. If there are subjects who especially want to see the original picture, I will end the press conference later or upload the original picture on Wednesday.

Summary:

In fact, it is unfair to contact LX7 immediately when I have just contacted Sony RX 100 and I like it very much. LX7 bears the burden of the latest LX series, and similar price segments need to be killed with their own GF5. Panasonic must create a design that lives up to the name LX, and not overlap with GF5 too easily. The final answer is the larger and more functional LX7.

First of all, I think the LX7 is not very pleasing. Sony RX 100 with larger photosensitive elements is lighter than LX7. RX 100 can be easily put into the pocket, but RX 100 LX7 can only put a small camera bag. The focusing speed is not to mention RX 100, and it is also far from GF5, which has a larger film size. Although the focusing speed is above the standard, it may be that after using GF5, the author has high expectations for the LX7 of Panasonic family, which leads to a sense of gap in his heart.

However, we should be glad that LX7 didn't add touch function. Otherwise, although the focusing performance of LX7 is not too slow, it is almost impossible to follow the point like GF 1 GF5. However, the wide-angle 1 cm close-up function of LX7 is beyond the reach of GF5 and RX 100.

However, the operation feel of LX7 is quite good. The slightly thicker body and skin make it quite comfortable and stable to hold. When holding it with both hands, the thumb and forefinger of the left hand will not feel embarrassed because the lens is more prominent. In addition, although the physical aperture ring lacks elasticity, even it is almost an ornament outside the aperture prerequisite and pure manual mode, the non-section-free design makes the author feel the accuracy of section-by-section switching during operation.

In addition, the manual focus mode can be operated directly by the newly added keys at the back, which is also a selling point of LX7, and you can start using it without selecting a specific shortcut key. However, on the other hand, I also think that LX7 has this button and a pure aperture ring. Does it make LX7 feel a bit too complicated? On the other hand, for advanced users, just like Canon G series, the ability to enter the menu and change settings can be reduced. Perhaps LX7 not only sticks to the original ticket warehouse, but also hopes to attract new customers through more convenient operation.

Extensible flash and EVF are not necessary functions for everyone, but for some advanced users, being able to use these two optional devices will have a considerable bonus effect.

High ISO performance, through the new engine and new CMOS components, seems to be better than the CCD components used in LX5. With the new large aperture lens, it is easier to create a shallow depth of field effect. With the ND filter, it is more convenient for advanced shooting than LX5, and it can also take more photos than LX5 that can only be taken with a large aperture or deliberately slow down the shutter.
