Ye Zhipeng, a police forensic doctor, testified that when examining Bruce Lee's body, he found traces of blood transfusion on Li's left toe and pinholes in his left chest (pinholes left by intracardiac injection of first aid). There are no new scars on his physical appearance, and his lips and nails are blue. Ye Zhipeng also said that when he inspected Ding Pei's apartment, he found no traces of fighting and entanglement, nor did he find any toxic substances. Bruce Lee's body showed no signs of violence. So he decided that Bruce Lee "has no evidence of murder and death". Dr. Ye Zhipeng talked with other doctors afterwards, and all the other doctors thought that "Bruce Lee may have died of natural causes". Because Bruce Lee had a history of sudden coma. Dr Ye Zhipeng therefore thinks that Bruce Lee's "cerebral vessels may be abnormal", which is the cause of death. The court's initial verdict on Bruce Lee's death was "the cause of death is unknown". Autopsy began 36 hours after Bruce Lee's death. Afterwards, the court conducted investigation and evidence collection. After his body was dissected, samples of his stomach residue, blood, liver, kidney, small intestine and colon were immediately sent to the laboratory for examination by Dr. Lin of the Forensic Medicine Department of the Hong Kong Government. As for his brain swelling, it may happen half a minute before sudden death, or it may happen half a day ago. As far as Bruce Lee is concerned, his brain swells very quickly. But brain swelling does not necessarily lead to death. Lydia, a professor of forensic medicine at the University of London, was also invited to study the case. In his opinion, the cause of death was acute brain edema, which was due to an allergic reaction to some ingredients in painkillers. But this is only speculation, not the final conclusion.
