How to take a photo with a bright subject and a dark background

There are three ways to take photos with a bright subject and a dark background: using props, spot metering and synchronized flash. The camera metering system generally uses 18% neutral gray reflection as the metering basis. Reflectivity If it is too high, the light will be suppressed, such as when shooting white snow, it will turn into actual gray snow; if the reflectivity is too low, the light will be brightened, such as when shooting a black object, but it is not actually dark enough.

Spot metering measures a small area of ??the screen, about 3% of the area, giving priority to ensuring the correct exposure of the subject. When we spot meter against the bright parts of the picture, the dark areas of the picture will become darker, forming a black background.

Adjust the shooting angle and choose a darker background, which is easier to form a black background;

Perform spot metering on the characters, flowers, etc. in the main body of the picture, giving priority to ensuring accurate exposure of the main body. When the dark background light is weakened, a black background is formed;

When the dark background is not dark enough, appropriately reduce the exposure compensation to make the dark background darker.
