When will Baoding section of South-to-North Water Transfer Project start?

The main canal of the Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project enters Baoding from the east of Nanwali Village in Quyang County, along the east of Taihang Mountain and the west of Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, with an altitude of 70-60m. The terrain in the south of Tangxian County is mainly piedmont plain, and the tunnel from the north of Tangxian County to Laishui County is a shallow hilly area, which enters the alluvial fan of Juma River below and enters the Beijing boundary in the north of Xituan Village in Zhuozhou City. It passes through 9 counties (cities) in Baoding, including Quyang, Dingzhou, Tangxian, Shunping, Mancheng, Xu Shui, Yixian, Laishui and Zhuozhou, with a length of 169.7 km. The highway from Baoding to Laiyuan County passes through the water diversion channel in the west of Mancheng County. In order to ensure the safety of water supply in the capital, the state has decided to build the middle line main canal project from Shijiazhuang to Beijing in advance, connecting four large reservoirs in Gangnan, Huangbizhuang, Wangkuai and Xidayang in Hebei Province with the middle line main canal, and providing emergency water to Beijing before the opening of the middle line project. On June 30, 2003, the Hutuo River inverted siphon project broke ground, and the construction of Hebei section of the emergency water supply project was started. Complete water supply before the 2008 Olympic Games.
