Bromide English name bromide
Alkali metal, alkaline earth metal bromide and ammonium bromide are easily soluble in water. Insoluble bromide is similar to insoluble chloride, but the solubility of the former is usually less than that of the corresponding chloride. The aqueous solution of hydrogen bromide is called hydrobromic acid, which is a strong acid. Bromides of metals can be prepared by the reaction of corresponding carbonates or hydroxides with hydrobromic acid. Such as sodium bromide, manganese bromide, barium bromide, copper bromide, magnesium bromide, thallium bromide, mercury bromide and the like.
hydrogen bromide
Chemical formula: HBr
Properties: Colorless gas with pungent smell. Toxic, soluble in water, its aqueous solution is called hydrobromic acid. Easy to liquefy.
Hydrobromic acid is a strong acid. When exposed to air or under the action of light, its color gradually darkens.
Uses: used in pharmacy and catalyst.
Methods: a) directly combine hydrogen (H2) and bromine (Br2).
B) sodium bromide (NaBr) reacts with dilute sulfuric acid (H2SO4).
C) preparation by hydrolysis of phosphorus tribromide (PBr3).
sodium bromide
Sodium bromide is white crystal or powder. Salty or slightly bitter. Absorb the moisture in the air and make it agglomerate, but it will not deliquesce. Soluble in water. Low toxicity and irritation. Used for the determination of trace cadmium in analytical chemistry, photographic plate making and pharmacy. Physical and chemical properties colorless cubic crystal or white granular powder. Odorless, alkaline and slightly bitter. The relative density is 3.203(25℃). The melting point is 747℃. It is hygroscopic in air. Soluble in water (100℃, the solubility is121g/100 ml water), and the aqueous solution is neutral. Slightly soluble in alcohol. Anhydrous sodium bromide crystals are precipitated in the solution at 565438 0℃, and dihydrate is formed when the temperature is lower than 565438 0℃. Its bromine ion can be replaced by chlorine.
potassium bromide
Chemical formula: KBr
Description: White deliquescent crystal or powder. Soluble in water.
Uses: Used as nerve sedative and used in photographic bromide paper, etc.
Preparation method: a) adding potassium carbonate (K2CO3) solution into ferric bromide (FeBr3) solution, evaporating and crystallizing the supernatant.
B) introducing bromine vapor (Br2) into potassium hydroxide (KOH) to obtain a product.
Bromide, whose representative drug is potassium bromide (or sodium). The main function of bromide is to strengthen the inhibition process of cerebral cortex and make it more concentrated, so as to adjust the unbalanced higher nervous activity and make it return to normal.
Patients with hypertension and edema should not take bromide; Ammonium bromide should not be used in epileptic patients; Patients with severe pulmonary insufficiency, bronchial asthma and respiratory center depression caused by craniocerebral injury should avoid using hypnotics. Sedative hypnotics should be used with caution in patients with hepatic and renal insufficiency.
Iodine bromide
Description: Black-gray crystal.
Density: 4.4157g/cm3
Melting point: 42℃
Boiling point: 1 16℃ (decomposition). Sublimation at 50℃.
Solubility: soluble in water, decomposable. Soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform and carbon disulfide.
Danger: Its vapor corrodes eyes and mucous membranes.
Preparation: It is prepared by reacting iodine with bromine, heating to 50℃ and removing excess bromine with carbon dioxide gas flow.
