Plot introduction

There are two women in Treasure's life. He said that one is his white rose and the other is his red rose. One is a holy wife, and the other is a warm mistress ... Zhenbao (Zhao Wenxuan), who came back from studying abroad, got a higher position in a foreign company. For the convenience of transportation, he rented the house of his old classmate Wang Shihong. When Zhen was in school, she had a first love named Rose. He once won the reputation of "Liu Xiahui" for refusing the pursuit of roses. Wang Shihong has a charming wife, who always makes Treasure dream. On one occasion, Hong Shi went to Singapore to do business. After several struggles between spirit and flesh, Zhenbao was "imprisoned" by this wife named Jiao Rui (Chen Chong) on a rainy day. To Treasure's surprise, Jiao Rui gave her true love this time. When she offered to tell Wang Shihong the truth, Treasure fell ill. In the ward, Zhen Bao told Jiao Rui the real side-he didn't want to take too much responsibility for this situation. Jiao Rui wiped away her tumultuous tears, strangely calmed down and walked out of his life.

With the help of her mother, Zhen Xuan married a thin, quiet (Ye Yuqing) with a sad sense of sacrifice. The bride gives the impression that she is just an ordinary white person, and can't arouse the sexual desire of Treasure. Zhenbao began to go whoring outside. One day, however, he found a dull white rose bird in his shadow and had sex with a slim tailor. Since then, Zhenbao has been playing with women openly outside, and he has been wandering around. One day, he happened to meet Jiao Rui, the "red rose" in his life, on the bus. She is already a flashy middle-aged person. Years are relentless, flowers bloom and fall, and in tears, the red roses and white roses in Zhen Bao have become a mirage in reality. The old kindness is approaching the treasure bit by bit. At home, after a hysterical attack, Zhenbao became a good man again.

This film is adapted from Zhang Ailing's novel Red Rose and White Rose. Guan coldly described a feeling of helplessness. In the elevator going up and down, the delicate and beautiful face of the red rose reflects her inner twists and turns, and the white rose lives a pale and colorless life in the clean and bright bathroom. Exquisite and beautiful, decadent, but inadvertently reveals a trace of pure tenderness in the bottom of my heart. It is amazing that a man can portray a woman's feelings so delicately and richly. Chen Chong, who is well-known in Chinese mainland for A Little Flower (who won the Best Actress Award in Hundred Flowers Award), won the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress for her outstanding performance in The Red Rose in this film. Known for her bold appearance, she made a splash in this film, eclipsing Boba Ye Yuqing, once known as the "third-class queen of Hong Kong". She is also full of amorous feelings, but relatively speaking.

Chen Chong still knows more about acting than just showing off his figure.

In "Red Rose and White Rose", although Guan seems to be a novel of Zhang Ailing on the surface, he secretly manipulated various film techniques, played with language games and narrative games, and talked with Zhang Ailing in a challenging manner, rewriting Zhang Ailing's novel, making this story a different story and a story in which a woman can grow up. We know that although the protagonists in Zhang Ailing's novels are almost all women, and her description of female roles is particularly delicate and profound, the women in her novels are all humble, pitiful, ordinary and vulgar characters deeply trapped in China's traditional feudal thought, and Zhang Ailing has never given any consciousness or growth to the women in her novels.

In Guan's works, female characters are given silence and freedom at the same time. Guan chose to exclude the narrator from the conscious world of female characters and keep them ambiguous and opaque. Because the audience can't eavesdrop on the inner voices of female characters, they can't fully grasp these characters. Strangely, female characters therefore have some freedom to interpret space flexibly.
