Editing four elements of commonly used lens and lens language

Most editors have been involved in the project since the post-production stage. Although many professional editors may have participated in live shooting or studio shooting at some stage of their careers, it is rare to participate in both live shooting and post-shooting. However, more generally, all editors should understand some production concepts and terms and master the visual grammar of film production. In the editing stage, it is the editor's important duty to be familiar with the basic types of shots and how to arrange them in the best form. He or she must know how to "show" the story in the best way. Therefore, in the process of review, we will focus on the basic lens, the main component of film language, in the following chapters.

Basic lens types can record people or things of different sizes, but in order to make the example simple and easy to understand, we mainly introduce people's framing. According to the following description of the lens, it is easy to shoot objects or film space with people around.

It is worth noting that the above lens types have a * * * similarity: they belong to a major lens category, which we call simple lenses. However, they can evolve into two other categories-complex shots or motion shots. Before we explain the composition of simple shots, complex shots or moving shots, let's briefly introduce the four basic elements of lens shooting.

These four elements help to decide what kind of lens a shot belongs to.

Will the camera lens move during shooting? Does the camera lens change the focusing characteristics when recording the lens? Because the camera is still, the camera lens can only be moved through the telescope head or multi-point zoom lens. So you must judge whether there is a telescope or a zoom lens in a lens.

Will the camera body move during shooting? Does the camera roll or pitch when shooting? The camera base (tripod) must change the horizontal and vertical axes of the camera, but at the same time the camera base (tripod) will not move.

When shooting, can the camera stand or bracket support the camera to shoot around the shooting site or location? In the TV studio, the camera is installed on the top of the pedestal, and the pedestal can be raised (increasing the height of the camera) or lowered (decreasing the height of the camera) and moved on the smooth ground. In film scene shooting, the camera can be installed on a moving track camera car (a moving lens for shooting lateral motion and push-pull motion), can be connected to a large rocker arm or a small rocker arm, or hung on tools such as steel cables or camera stabilizers.

Did the camera's main body move during shooting? This object can be one or more people, an animal, a moving object (an object that can move by itself, such as a remote-controlled toy car), an immobile object (an immobile object, such as a vase or a pirate's treasure chest,
