How does Canon micro camera measure light?

Canon camera has a history of more than 50 years since the appearance of exposure meter. In different periods, Canon cameras have different metering modes and specific usage skills.

In the era of digital SLR, metering and exposure are often very troublesome. However, in the latest Canon digital micro-sheet, metering and exposure are not so complicated at all, and now everything is much simpler.

However, there are almost no Canon cameras before 10, and even the Canon cameras five years ago will not be used by any novice.

Let me briefly talk about the use skills of Canon camera metering mode in the last five years, novice Xiaobai:

First, there are many differences between digital SLR and digital micro-single.

Digital SLR, because many people don't like to take pictures with LCD screen, so it is not so timely to judge the exposure.

Digital SLR, the latest Canon 90D, and the intelligence of metering have been greatly improved.

If you are not 90D, you should pay more attention to metering and exposure when using the optical viewfinder.

Basically, for 90D, the evaluation photometry is probably completely reliable, and the possibility of error is much smaller. Moreover, the tolerance of 90D is still ok, even if the exposure is a little more or less, it can be corrected later. If combined with RAW format, 90D is really less prone to irreparable exposure errors.

But if it is not 90D, the concept of metering error will be much higher.

Therefore, there must be concepts of black, white and gray in the brain. Black and white, exposure compensation needs to be increased or decreased.

In other words, the shooting scenes dominated by black or white should be played back in time, and then corrected in time according to the playback results.

Second, at present, the mainstream Canon digital micro-sheets are all shot by LCD screen.

Moreover, the metering and white balance of digital micro-sheets are also more intelligent.

Therefore, the probability of exposure errors in digital micro-sheets will be much smaller.

Even if there is an exposure error, you can see it immediately and correct it immediately.

Even if you have not systematically studied the basic theory of photographic exposure, it is not particularly difficult to use digital micro-sheets.

Third, metering mode, don't easily set it to spot metering mode.

Spot metering mode is a metering mode that easily leads to serious exposure errors.

Spot metering mode is only suitable for people who are very proficient in the basic theory of exposure.

Spot metering mode, every shooting, must be thoughtful and cautious, not a fool's operation.

The fundamental of spot metering mode is to find out what is black and white ash and what is 18% ash. For many actual shooting scenes, if you don't know what is black and white gray and what kind of gray level is 18%, then you are not suitable to use spot metering mode.

In fact, Canon digital SLR with touch screen will refer to the metering mode of finger touching the screen even when evaluating the metering mode, which is a more advanced and easy-to-use "metering". Therefore, I suggest that unless you capture sports and birds, I sincerely suggest that you use touch LCD screen to shoot more, so the success rate will be much higher and the effect will be more controllable.
