Evaluation of Ricoh CX5 with Portable Small Gun 10x Dimming Card

IT 168 Evaluating how wide and far a card camera can shoot depends on the focal length of the wide-angle end and telephoto end of the camera. For a card that emphasizes portability, when it reaches 10 or more times, it is called "dimming ability". Small steel cannon? . Ricoh CX5 is a small steel gun with 35mm equivalent focal length of 28-300mm. This small card 10.7 times the change is a pocket machine for many street sweepers.

As a portable small steel gun, consumers value not only the compact body, but also the super zoom ratio and focal length. In addition to having a wide angle of 28mm for shooting large scenes, Ricoh CX5 can also achieve an ultra-long focal length of 300mm through optical zoom.

▲ The 35mm equivalent focal length of Ricoh CX5 is 28-300mm.

What are the concepts of 28mm wide angle and 300mm telephoto? Just look at the following example. We compared Ricoh CX5 with a camera with a wide-angle end of 28 mm and an optical zoom of only 4 times.

▲ Ricoh CX5 wide-angle 28mm

▲4 times variable light camera, wide angle 28 mm.

▲ Ricoh CX5 telephoto 300mm

▲ The telephoto of a 4x photorefractive camera is 140mm.

It is really convenient to shoot objects at different distances with large zoom ratio DC, especially to shoot distant scenes very close. However, it is often accompanied by poor lens distortion control and low resolution. Therefore, when choosing a large zoom ratio DC, we must pay attention to its image quality performance at wide angle and telephoto end. Next, we will test the performance of Ricoh CX5 through distortion and clarity tests.

The premise of taking a good photo is that it can be taken. I believe that the long-distance focal length of 300mm can meet this requirement, but shooting does not mean shooting well, because the image quality of large zoom is generally worse than that of camera.

Conclusion: According to the actual measurement, the overall sharpness of Ricoh CX5 is not good, and the sharpness is lower than that of the general card machine. Judging from the real shot samples, the standard test results of 12233 should also be verifiable. And the details are not satisfactory. This may be caused by the following three reasons:

1 and CX5 portable camera positioning.

2, large zoom ratio lens sharpness performance will not be too good.

3. Because CX5 does not provide manual mode, the camera sharpness test sample was not shot at the best aperture. But in actual shooting, it is difficult for you to meet the best aperture, so I think this is also objective.

The quality of image depends not only on the sharpness of the camera, but also on the distortion of the lens, because cameras with large zoom ratio usually have barrel distortion at the wide-angle end and pillow distortion at the telephoto end.

Conclusion: It can be seen that the samples taken by Ricoh CX5 at the wide-angle end have obvious barrel distortion, while the pincushion distortion that may appear at the telephoto end is well controlled, which is normal in the card machine, but it is quite rare for a card camera with such a large zoom ratio.

When shooting with a 300mm telephoto end, you will generally encounter shooting. Virtual? This is because the focal length is too long, and a slight hand shake will make the picture paste.

There are three solutions to this situation:

1, improve the shooting success rate by turning on the camera anti-shake function.

2. Increase the shutter speed by opening the aperture.

3. Increase the shutter speed by increasing the sensitivity.

For the anti-shake test, we didn't believe the official parameters, but actually evaluated these machines in the same scene. Turn on or turn off the anti-shake shooting 12233 standard respectively during the evaluation. If there are no hand tremors in five consecutive photo proofs, it can be considered as a safety shutter, and the difference between the safety shutter gear of turning on anti-shake and turning off anti-shake shooting is the measured value.

Through the actual test, the anti-shake effect of Ricoh CX5 is 2-speed shutter speed, which belongs to the general level in card machine and is the same level as most portable DC. Table below:

The anti-shake level of the 2-speed shutter is acceptable for ordinary cards, but it may be slightly insufficient for a camera like Ricoh CX5, which can reach 300mm at the telephoto end.

On the other hand, the maximum aperture of Ricoh CX5 is only F3.5, and the maximum aperture of telephoto end is only F5.6, so it is only wishful thinking to improve the shutter speed of telephoto end through a large aperture. It seems that everything can only expect good performance with high sensitivity.

In order to obtain high-sensitivity performance, we use different sensitivities of Ricoh CX5 to shoot the same scene, and then slice the samples of each sensitivity at the same position. I believe that no amount of description is as intuitive as looking at the picture directly.

From the figure, we can see that in ISO400, the clarity of the picture has decreased, but more details have been retained, with little noise and the overall picture fineness is OK. However, when the sensitivity is increased to ISO800, the details of the whole picture are seriously lost, the noise of the picture is obviously increased, and the clarity is further reduced. The photos taken may be limited to network communication, which is not practical for users with printouts.

To sum up, for a camera with a telephoto end of 300mm, the anti-shake of shutter speed of only seconds, the maximum aperture of the telephoto end of F5.6 and the highest acceptable sensitivity of ISO400 all indicate that it is difficult for the camera to take a photo with excellent quality and no jitter at the telephoto end of 300mm in dark scenes. In this way, the significance of 300mm telephoto is not so great.

The effective pixel of Ricoh CX5 is 6.5438+0 million, which is slightly lower than the current mainstream of card machine, which is 6.5438+0.2 million-6.5438+0.4 million. At the same time, its picture quality is also the level of home computers in card cameras, but the telephoto end is really not as good as expected.

The author thinks that Ricoh CX5, as a portable backup machine carried by photographers, is not competent for this task, but it is enough as a family travel camera.
