Design Appreciation of TWA Terminal Building (Aviation Center) of Kennedy Airport

Eero Saarinen, one of American architects in the 20th century, opened TWA Terminal 1962 at JFK Airport in new york, which has been out of service for a long time. 1956, the master created a big concrete bird with a romantic and beautiful curve. TWA terminal took six years to build, and it may not be easy to shape this huge and complicated arch structure at that time. Unfortunately, as more and more people began to travel by air, Big Bird could no longer accommodate them and finally chose to abandon them. Fortunately, Americans know how to cherish. Recently, they spent 20 million dollars to restore the "Big Bird" and let this classic building regain its former glory.

The following classic photos are from: Ezra Stoller, Balthazar Korab, Charles Eames.
