Types of light sources

natural light

The common natural light source is the sun, which can emit light and heat without any help, only by burning the fuel itself. This natural light source begins to emit light through more or less physical or chemical action.

artificial light

From ancient matches to modern LED lighting, and then to all electronic products we usually contact, all belong to artificial light sources, generally referring to lighting sources. Artificial light sources are more expensive than natural light sources because they need energy.

bias light

Ambient light refers to all kinds of light used for lighting in daily life, mostly refers to artificial light appearing in drama creation or life. Ambient light can be used to create all kinds of light, such as cloudy day, sunny day, night, dusk and dawn, to contrast and highlight the subject, so that it will not be submerged in the background, and also to create an environmental atmosphere.

Direction of light: The direction of light is determined by the relative positions of light source, main body and camera. There are five common light directions: forward light, side light, reverse light, side backlight and top light, which have different characteristics. But the same scene, under the illumination of light in different directions, will present different shapes and give people different visual feelings.

Quality of light

highlight

Strong light refers to dazzling and messy light, which is particularly strong. For example, the shooting of sunlight, incandescent lamps and fluorescent lamps at noon will have strong light. Be careful not to use strong light when shooting.

Low light level

Weak light environment means that the light of the light source in the picture is weak or the shooting lens is far away from the light source. Weak light usually appears at night after sunset or in dark indoor environment.

highlight

Strong light refers to the direct light in the distance, which is usually directly irradiated on the subject by a light source, such as the noon sun and the flash lamp directly facing the subject. In this light, the illuminated object will produce obvious shadows, the transition between light and shade is direct, the boundaries are clear, and the visual experience is "hard".

subdued light

Soft light refers to the diffuse light at close range, which usually does not directly come from the light source, but is reflected or filtered by non-mirror materials, such as large windows, sunrises and sunsets, close-up soft boxes and so on. In this light, the illuminated object will not produce clear shadows, and the transition between light and shade is gradual, with no obvious dividing line.

Photography schedule

9:30- 10:30

The light is soft during this time, so you can use the side backlight to shoot the luminous hair.

1 1:30- 14:30

During this time, the sun is strong, so it is recommended to shoot indoors, weaken the light through curtains and tulle, form shadows on the body and face, and create a lazy atmosphere in the afternoon.

16:00- 18:30

The photo time is excellent and the light is soft. Unlike the morning light, the light will be warmer. When the reflector is used properly, it can make the skin more transparent and the atmosphere feels good. Sunset can take people's silhouette.
