School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing Normal University was founded in April 1995. Its predecessor was journalism major of Nanjing Normal University, which was founded in 1964. At the end of 20001,the discipline of journalism was awarded the "Key Discipline of Journalism in Jiangsu Province" by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, and the School of Journalism and Communication became the only department in Jiangsu Province with a key discipline of journalism.

The college now has journalism department, radio and television department, advertising department, photojournalism department, journalism research institute, media and rural social development research center, etc. Jiangsu reporter training center is also affiliated to the college. At present, the college has four undergraduate majors and seven professional directions, namely journalism (including journalism, network news, sports news and photojournalism), radio and television news, radio and television director and advertising.

At the beginning of its establishment, the college only enrolled 86 undergraduates. By the autumn of 2005, there were 88 undergraduate students1person and 69 master students1person. There are 6 faculty members1person, including 44 full-time teachers, 9 full-time senior titles, 15 associate senior titles, 4 doctors or studying for a doctorate, and 9 masters or studying for a master's degree 19. 33 teachers have obtained master's degree or above. The college has gradually formed a team of teachers with strong teaching and scientific research strength, reasonable echelon and complete subject talents.

Since its establishment, the college has been adhering to the construction idea of "infiltration of arts and sciences, combination of skills, and combination of hard and soft", rationally allocating and optimizing all kinds of teaching and research resources, and taking discipline construction as the leading factor to promote the development of the college. At present, the college has set up three master's programs in journalism, communication and radio and television art, and was approved to set up the first doctoral program in journalism in Jiangsu Province in 2005.

Since 1996, the college has established three master's majors: journalism (1996 batch, 1997 enrollment), communication (2000) and radio and television art (2003). In 2005, the college applied for the doctoral program in journalism and passed the examination of the expert review group.

In 2002, the journalism major of our college successfully applied for the provincial key discipline, becoming the only university with a news major in Jiangsu Province 10. So far, only a key discipline of journalism has received nearly 6.5438+0 million yuan in funding, and at the same time it has won the 655.438+0 project of Nanjing Normal University.

Scientific research has also made great progress. Since the hospital was established in 1995, it has obtained 8 national projects.

In the process of scientific research and construction, the college strives to find its own characteristics and hopes to be unique in the field of journalism research. In this spirit, the college seeks the field of academic research. The College has opened up the field of journalism education and research, opened up the research space of "mass media and rural social development", published the earliest monograph on journalism law and media and rural social development in China, and opened the first research center on media and rural social development in China, which has achieved certain results in journalism law and media and rural social development.

The college has four undergraduate majors and three master majors, and the doctoral qualification of journalism has also passed the evaluation of the members of the the State Council Discipline Evaluation Group. There are also five laboratories with different functions and excellent facilities. Since its establishment, the College has trained more than 500 graduates 1.500, including 30 graduate students 1.30. At the same time, it has also trained more than 2,000 adult students at all levels, including junior college, undergraduate and graduate students. At present, there are 88 undergraduate students1,master students 169 and more than 300 adult students. On the whole, it has formed the characteristics of running a school with complete professional settings, rich training levels, reasonable teaching staff echelon and excellent hardware facilities.
