Shooting skills of backlight and backlight photos

When the light source (such as the sun) is behind the main body, this is the backlight/backlight environment. So how should we deal with this situation? Below I have collected and sorted out the skills of backlighting and backlighting for you, hoping to help you!

The technique of taking backlight and backlight photos (1) directly increases the overall exposure.

If you use semi-automatic mode (such as aperture priority), you can +EV (exposure compensation). Depending on the degree of backlight, sometimes it takes +2 or more to get the correct exposure of the subject, but the background will be completely overexposed. Paying attention to this point is also one of the skills of taking photos against the light. Students can refer to this article: Backlight Photography Skills.

(b) Use a flash as a fill light.

When shooting against the light, we can shoot the background with the correct exposure. At this time, the prospect will be underexposed and become very dark. We just need to turn on the flash to fill the foreground with light, and the whole photo will be exposed normally! However, when using this technique, you should carefully control the output of the flash, slightly fill the light instead of the main light source, and don't shoot like a paste!

There is no flash on the left side, and the flash on the right side is used to compensate the exposure by +0.3.

(3) Making artistic silhouette photos.

The prospect is underexposed? Just make a silhouette! Sometimes the above methods (1) and (2) are not very effective. You can try to take a silhouette, which may be more atmospheric!
