In order to increase the sense of reality, Spielberg filmed the landing scene in the first 25 minutes of the film with a nearly documentary shooting technique. Tom sanders, the set designer, and other staff members built a dilapidated French village and a small bridge at an abandoned British air base in Hatfield, which became the climax of the whole film. Story background:

This film is adapted from the true story of World War II. The protagonist of the story, whose real name is Fritz Nirlander, is a soldier of the US Army 10 1 Airborne Division E Company.
