The wonder of China porcelain

20 12 On February 4th and 5th, 12, two sets of high-definition documentaries "China Porcelain" will land on CCTV- 1 "Charm Records" at 10: 30 pm. This latest work, produced by CCTV Record Channel, depicts the grand picture of China's worldwide trip to export porcelain in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and presents the important events about China's export porcelain one by one in history. Watching this movie is like traveling, just visiting and seeing the porcelain exporters in China in previous lives.

The first-class creative team of CCTV has carefully built it.

From June this year to next year 1 month, the British Museum, the British Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Museum of China jointly held the "Charm of Porcelain" exhibition in Beijing, showing the treasures of porcelain exported from China collected by the two British museums. Starting from this exhibition, the documentary "China Porcelain" focuses on China's export porcelain that once dominated the world. It is understood that this is the first time that a domestic documentary has taken this as its theme.

In order to complete this documentary, CCTV Record Channel sent a first-class creative team. The creative team led by Xu Huan, a senior director, has successively produced excellent historical and humanistic documentaries such as The Forbidden City, When the Louvre meets the Forbidden City, and The Forbidden City 100, which won the appreciation of the audience. The other two directors, Zhang Yuejia and Bo Xiaolin, are young and passionate and have a lot of documentary shooting experience; Photographer Liu Chang won the Best Photography Award in the 26th TV Golden Eagle Award this year for The Forbidden City 100.

According to Xu Huan, the project of the film was started in early March this year, and the signing of the contract with the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum was completed in the same month. "This is the first time that China and Britain have jointly created a documentary in the TV media and museums of the two countries. In the three major Chinese and British museums, China porcelain products from across the ocean are all included in our lens. Chinese and British experts provided the film crew with the academic achievements of their lifelong research on China exported porcelain, which enabled us to quickly acquire knowledge, sort out the context and determine the theme in a short time when entering a strange field. We deeply felt the enthusiasm of these experts for China porcelain, which made us very moved. " She said.

In addition to going to Britain, the film crew also filmed in France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Iran, Turkey, Kenya and other overseas regions. In China, the film crew visited Jingdezhen, Guangzhou, Shaoguan, Poyang Lake, Hongkong and other important ports.

Focus on blue and white, the world's first global commodity

Different from previous documentaries about China porcelain, China Porcelain no longer pays attention to excavating its own aesthetic value and cultural value, but stands at the height of economic globalization, traces the process of China porcelain going to the world in the Ming and Qing Dynasties from an international perspective, and discusses its role in the evolution of world civilization, which has a far-reaching impact on the political economy, social life, culture and art of all countries in the world.

Blue and white porcelain, the world's first global commodity, is a business card for the world to know China for the first time. It embodies many factors such as the culture, wisdom and aesthetics of the East and the West, and reaches the peak of the development of China ceramics in one fell swoop. Ming and Qing dynasties swept the world and became one of the most important products in the early days of global trade. Many viewers don't know much about this.

Following the camera, you can see that Jingdezhen has become a global commodity production base hundreds of years ago: a large number of European orders, sophisticated technology, standardized production processes, the world's largest production line ... Do you know that only in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, millions of pieces of porcelain were sold from Jingdezhen to Europe every year?

Following the camera, you can also see that the status of China blue-and-white porcelain in Europe has changed, from gods and sacred vessels to high-end luxury goods respected by nobles in the palace, and then to daily necessities of ordinary families, witnessing the changes and development of global trade. Do you know the history of European powers fighting for maritime hegemony in order to gain their monopoly position?

"Porcelain was invented by China people and was the earliest man-made product. Porcelain is also the first global commodity and has been at the core of world communication. A handful of porcelain clay stirred the earth, and the English word' China'-porcelain became synonymous with China. " Xu Huan said.

Look around the world and show the hearts of China people.

For a long time, when it comes to ancient China, especially in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, many people have the inherent impression that they are closed to the outside world and cling to the remnants. The documentary "China Porcelain" changed this one-sided view with a lot of historical facts. The prosperity of exported porcelain in China just shows that China people are tolerant of all kinds of foreign cultures.

As can be seen in the film, blue and white porcelain and Guangzhou colored porcelain are the result of the intersection of China culture and foreign culture. In the last episode, the audience can see how cobalt blue, an important raw material of blue-and-white porcelain, was introduced into China from ancient Persia, revealing the inseparable relationship between blue-and-white porcelain and the Arab region. In terms of form, pattern, decorative pattern and technology, China people absorbed the elements of Islamic culture and made blue and white porcelain that blended the aesthetic tastes of the East and the West. The next episode shows that Guangzhou colored porcelain absorbed the gorgeous style of western visual art, thus taking the lead in the export volume of porcelain in Qing Dynasty.

The film also points out that the reason why China exported porcelain became popular all over the world in the Ming and Qing Dynasties was that China people could look at the world and adapt to different foreign cultures. The exported porcelains of Ming and Qing dynasties displayed in the lens include pure western-style daily utensils such as salad plates, mugs and cups, as well as various utensils that combine traditional China shapes with western classic patterns. The film also emphasizes that China businessmen and craftsmen at that time could develop and design new products according to the characteristics of westerners' life. All these fully prove the broad mind of China people.
