What have I experienced from photography to documentary photographer?
"Hello, dear stranger. Because I don't know when you read this article. If you accidentally open this article. It's better to calm down and let's talk quietly. "
Aside from flowery rhetoric, I want to share with you how I went from photography to documentary photographer in plain words. My feelings and gains, my thoughts and my growth, all want to share with you one by one.
Shooting everything from scratch is more like shooting aimlessly. Taking pictures for shooting, much like robots, robots that press the shutter. Lack of temperature, lack of thinking and lack of depth. At that time, I recorded every scenery I saw in front of me. Crowded streets, busy trains in high-speed railway station, and seemingly numb hospitals waiting in line for registration and payment. In the famous tourist attractions, people rushed to punch in and take pictures. Compared with this gesture, their expressions are cheerful and happy.
In those years, my figure shuttled through the streets of the city, looking up at the sky, flying over free birds, lush trees and vibrant grass on both sides of the road, empty streets in the morning, and crowded traffic jams after work. The raindrops on the leaves, the traces of heavy rain, and the sweet-scented osmanthus floating in the air seem to be integrated with me.
When I was called Xiao Bai, I really felt that everything in the world was so beautiful in my eyes. At that time, every shutter was happy for me and worth recording. I was particularly envious at that time. The great gods who took good photos also dreamed that one day, their photos would be liked by many people. With this in mind, I started my own way of upgrading and fighting monsters.
I don't know if you've ever felt this way. When playing games, you always have to upgrade to fight monsters step by step. In order to better understand the game, you start to learn all kinds of skills crazily, join the team to upgrade and fight monsters. When I encounter all kinds of difficulties and obstacles, I will run to the game forum and inquire about various raiders tutorials, hoping that I can become a game god.
This feeling is the same, but fortunately, I met many people who like gifts along the way, and they all taught me photography skills and concepts to varying degrees. I began to soak in various forums, post posts, read books, watch videos, see photo albums, see photo collections, see other people's excellent works, and understand the history of photography at home and abroad.
Now when I see old photos, I still can't help laughing, wondering why I thought they were beautiful and worth recording. Until now, it is still the same. I always think over and over again. Why is this picture worth recording? What moved you about the content in the picture?
In fact, I still feel that I belong to the photographer of the 18th Route, but it is because of the distance from the first line that I have a distance of 108,000 miles, which is my motivation and courage to move forward.
The initial idea is always looming in my mind, but when you walk into the sacred palace of photography and open the door, I know I am willing to spend my life polishing my skills. I became the most devout believer and knew that I should be in awe of images.
Because, I always believe that every fleeting picture and your encounter have a profound fate.
In our time, dreams are as precious as diamonds. Care with your heart and don't disappoint your heart.
The experience of life began to be different. I began to want to record some images and stories belonging to ordinary people. So, my camera began to aim at strangers passing by. I don't know how long and deep a person's life can be, but I want to make my life deeper. I want to broaden the length of life and the thickness of time.
I remember the Shanghai photo exhibition. When I first saw teacher Yang Yankang's work "Mind Image", I felt a shock. A sentence suddenly popped up in my mind: "People are like flies, wandering between heaven and earth." At that moment, I saw the charm of documentary photography. The image of a square is as light as a feather and more powerful than Mount Tai.
"As a documentary photographic work, the series" Heart Image "often depicts some parts of our Tibetan imagination and truly reproduces the scenery and life of Tibet. The special feature of Yang Yankang's Tibetan photography is that his daily life and sense of sacredness in his Tibetan images are presented by him, and also reflected in their harmony. This is where Yang Yankang's Tibetan photography is different from most Tibetan photography. In his photos, the holy light shines before our eyes through daily details. This may also be the greatest charm of Yang Yankang's Tibetan photography. " -Zheng Gu
Teacher Hou Dengke, an unavoidable name for documentary photography in China. Always adhere to the principle of "paying attention to human nature and people's living conditions" and aim the camera at farmers, ordinary citizens and urban workers. His works, which do not emphasize visual impact and quickness, are simple and simple, but heavy and harsh, full of rich northwest flavor.
What impressed me the most was a picture in a series called Sifang City. A migrant worker stood on the roof of the construction site, his hair and skirts were kissed by the breeze, but he was shy and swayed gently with the wind. Whose father he is, whose son he is, and who is the pillar of his family. In the face of the hard burden of life, he still went forward without hesitation.
Jia Pingwa commented: "It is rare to record people's lives in a city with such great enthusiasm and unpretentious lens in the history of photography in China. In these works, the relationship between people and the city, between people, between people and the city and the times can show such a rich history, philosophy and artistry! "
In humanistic documentary photography, there are many excellent photographers who, like mountains, are your guiding lights. They are like the mountains behind you, giving you unlimited courage to move forward, and they are also your safe haven from the wind and rain.
Everyone has this problem all their lives. You have to pursue your dreams, and then you work hard. This road is right under your feet. The road is on your own. Only by our own efforts can we succeed and achieve the ultimate goal.
Thank you for letting me record.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write this image into my story.
