Eight common mistakes in digital photography
1. Digital SLR cameras are not suitable for taking scenery photos.
This is an enduring hot issue. The key to this question is, how good landscape photos do you want? Once the quality standard of landscape photos is unified, the tolerance of camera imaging is determined. It is recognized that 6x7 and 4x5 systems are superior to 135 system (both digital and film are available). It is obviously inappropriate to compare APS format digital machine with large and medium-sized cameras, and the conclusion is biased. It is a misunderstanding to criticize the popularization of digital cameras to digital cameras whose requirements are higher than the system capacity 135.
Film is still ahead of digital photoreceptors in some aspects, such as resolution (alignment /mm), too smooth tone levels and so on. However, this advantage is gradually shrinking. With the development of electronic technology, it is possible to surpass film in technical "value" in the future. Digital cameras have an advantage in "speed". It is faster than developing negative films and can give you immediate feedback. By viewing real-time images and related data, the function of "correction at shooting location" can be realized.
Film machines are ahead in some aspects, while digital machines have advantages in others. This is the current model of photographic equipment. The traditional viewing methods of film machine are film viewer, slide projector and photographic paper. Don't let the wonderful feeling from the traditional way of watching movies mislead another picture style on the computer screen. Movies are wonderful in the traditional way of watching movies, but I object to generalizing two different ways of watching movies to the screen. After the film is scanned and posted on the Internet, it is already a digital picture. Can it be called: Figital attacks numbers with digital processing of film?
You're not stupid enough to shoot a 100-meter race with a small DC. Conversely, Mamiya 6x7 is not the first choice for taking photos in your daily life. One is "underutilization" and the other is "overuse", which will always be the "gold standard" in equipment selection.
2. Pixel value is the most critical for digital SLR camera imaging.
The higher the pixel, the higher the resolution, and there is basically no error. But notice that pixels are different from pixels. It is also important to have a large single pixel area and low signal-to-noise ratio, which can achieve better dynamic range and low noise. It is also the area difference of a single pixel that causes the image quality of a small DC with 8 million pixels, especially for digital SLR cameras with high ISO, whose noise suppression level is far less than 6 million or even 4 million pixels.
Resolution is a very important aspect of digital imaging technology. Equally important are dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio. How to achieve high pixel, high dynamic range and low signal-to-noise ratio is still a challenging subject compared with the current technical level.
3. Full width is the last word.
This idea comes from the "outsole is the last word" on the film machine. Large format does have advantages, at least the room is large and can hold more pixels. Moreover, the increase of photoreceptor area can make the area of a single pixel larger, thus achieving low signal-to-noise ratio and high dynamic range.
It is worth noting that the digital revolution has just begun, and the whole picture is only a development direction of digital images, not the only direction. X3, 3/4, DX format and other technologies are constantly improving and developing. If one day DX format gets a technical breakthrough, you can get super-high quality pixels in a smaller format. Combined with the inherent optical weakness of the whole frame in wide angle, DX frame may become the technical leader. X3 is the same as three quarters. If they overcome their weaknesses in the future, perhaps their technical prospects will be much broader than we thought. No one can tell what will happen in the future, and talking too much will not solve our actual equipment problems.
Based on the current technology and our experience, the whole map has great advantages. However, it will take time to observe whether the whole image can finally become the commanding height of digital imaging technology.
4. The automatic white balance of digital SLR camera is difficult to do well.
At present, the automatic white balance function of digital cameras is weak, mainly because there are still many shortcomings in the detection of environmental color temperature by cameras. The high-end model AWB is slightly better, but it is far from perfect. There are several things that can be improved.
First of all, you must make sure whether your monitor reproduces colors normally. It is suggested and encouraged to use ColorVision Spyder (commonly known as Spider) to calibrate the monitor regularly. The best state of display calibration should be hardware calibration, and manual intervention with personal experience should be minimized. Although spyder is also involved in the human experience, it is still much better than all software calibration.
Secondly, if conditions permit, it is suggested to manually set the white balance with the gray board when shooting, and at the same time, take a photo with the gray board at the scene for later adjustment. Whiteboards are not recommended, because the whiteboards found at hand are generally not pure white and are easily affected by exposure, which may mislead the camera and PS white straws later.
Finally, be familiar with the color temperature working range of various cameras and the best working range of AWB. If it exceeds this range, it is necessary to set the white balance manually, which can reduce the error rate of automatic white balance.
5. In JPEG format, camera sharpening is better than post sharpening.
If you are looking for image quality instead of just playing, then use the post-sharpening method! The order in which the machine processes pictures is to sharpen them first and then compress them into JPEG pictures. After sharpening in the machine, the halo effect will be amplified in the compression process and the noise will also increase.
If it is serious photography, it is necessary to turn off the built-in sharpening of JPEG format and choose post-image processing software to complete this task.
6. Change the lens frequently, and the photoreceptor is easy to accumulate dust.
Even if you never change your head, the low-pass filter in front of the photoreceptor will still be covered with dust. Digital cameras are different from small DC. It has a shutter and a reflector. The repeated vibration of these mechanisms will make the air circulate and roll up tiny dust during shooting. Electronic mechanisms, such as photoreceptors, will have static electricity to absorb these dust.
One of the advantages of digital SLR cameras is the flexibility of lens replacement. We can't avoid changing the lens just because of the dust problem. As for the methods of dust removal, there are various methods on the Internet, each with its own advantages. There are many products on the market, which are expensive. Just study and spend money on it. You have bought all the pork, so don't be reluctant to part with chopped green onion.
7 .photoshop is in hand, and I will handle the exposure latitude.
Indeed, Photoshop can improve exposure latitude through two photos with different exposures. But this method is not always effective. Sometimes you don't get a chance to take a second photo. And you need working time and skills in front of the computer. There is no such thing as a free lunch. The more PS, the greater the risk of image damage.
The best way is to solve the problem in the early stage and control the exposure of the picture within the tolerance range in the camera. This saves time and effort, and there is no image quality damage. Why not spend more time with your family by saving time?
The way to control exposure latitude in the early stage is a medium-gray gradient mirror.
8. On the digital camera, the dog's head is not a dog, and the cow's head is not a cow.
Accurately speaking, the dog's head is not a dog, and the cow's head is more cattle. The digital camera only shoots the middle imaging part, so the optical performance of the dog head is improved compared with the film machine. The same is true for tauren, which should perform better than the film machine.
However, for lenses with a long history of design, the optimization of digital machines is not considered, so these lenses, whether dogs or cows, generally do not perform well on digital machines.
At present, various manufacturers are scrambling to launch "digital-optimized" lenses, which really perform better than ordinary lenses on digital computers. Digital users should look for their goals in these shots when buying.
