How to shoot a still life with a white background like the picture below?

The theme of this question is about product still life photography. This product drawing with a clean white background is actually a very common still life photography effect in the studio. It is not difficult to achieve this effect, as long as there are corresponding equipment and lighting, it can be easily achieved.

In fact, the subject already has basic shooting equipment, camera and flash. The 6d camera of the subject is a Quan Huafu SLR camera, which is very sufficient for the product drawings of the shooting studio. Because even an entry-level apsc SLR camera can take many good photos of studio products, not to mention Quan Huafu 6d. In addition, using a 6d camera to shoot product drawings such as bags does not require a very expensive bull lens, but only a common sleeve head of 24- 105mm, and even a small spittoon of 50mm can be used completely. If the subject mainly needs to shoot some tiny products, such as jewelry, you can add a macro of 100mm, which can meet the photography needs of most product studios.

Why can a very entry-level SLR also take a very good still life product map? Because the most effective and needed focus of this kind of photography theme is not the camera itself, but the flash. For indoor creative themes such as still life and products, the flash is the main force. With lighting, the effect will be there. Without lighting, even the best camera can't shoot such an effect.

The main body has three flashlights, which have the basic conditions for shooting products, because our usual "three-point lighting" can basically meet the shooting needs of the studio. However, of course, the more lights, the easier it is to combine different lighting effects, and the less lights, the longer it will be. Of course, the three light areas can basically shoot the effect of transparent background.

In addition, the subject needs a translucent whiteboard as the background of the product to be photographed. Why is it translucent? Because we need to expose it with lights at the back, so the background is completely white and the transparency is very high.

Regarding how to distribute light, I personally suggest using a lamp as the main light. The power should be properly set higher and the size of the soft mask should be larger, so as to illuminate the main body of the product and make the light soft. This main light lamp is installed on the hypotenuse of the product and keeps a certain angle with the product. The other flash lamp is located at the oblique side of the other party, with low power. As an auxiliary lamp, it can illuminate the other side of the product, and a soft light cover should be installed at the same time. These two kinds of lamps can form the main light source to illuminate products, and produce a certain contrast between light and shade through different powers. In order to turn the background into pure white, it is necessary to arrange a flash behind the translucent white bottom plate, directly hit the white bottom plate, and adjust the power to the maximum, so that the white bottom plate can be exposed to form a white highlight, thus creating a pure white background effect. Of course, this is not absolute, and the main body can also achieve the desired lighting effect through appropriate fine-tuning. If there are two more lights, the effect may be better. The two extra lights can be arranged at the bottom and top of the product respectively. Try it several times after lighting, and try to change the position and power of the light until the effect is satisfactory.

It should be noted that when the camera shoots a product, the focal length of the lens is preferably above 50mm, which can reduce the lens distortion as much as possible and maintain the real shape of the product.

As for the exposure setting of the camera, the general aperture can be from f8 to f 1 1, which is the best image quality range of the general lens. The shutter speed can be set to the highest speed of flash synchronization, such as1160 seconds or1125 seconds. Remember, the sensitivity must be set to the lowest ISO 100.
