Artist introduction
_ (Akiji Matsumoto, who once collected folk musical instruments in minority areas of China, has a close relationship with China.
Matsumoto), he will use Oolong bamboo and local bamboo weavers to complete his exhibition-Sound Theater, and will let his creativity help local artists.
Matsumoto in his youth, like some confused artists, could not find his way. He painted oil paintings, played photography and did video experiments, but he always ended up in a hurry.
Until one day, Matsumoto went to play in the park near his home and accidentally picked up a bamboo musical instrument. The "jingle" sound made by musical instruments is crisp and pleasant, which is very pleasant to listen to. Matsumoto simply picked up some materials at the scene to imitate the production, and the beautiful shape and natural sound attracted many people to watch. At that moment, Matsumoto began to understand that a good work, whether sensory or emotional, can interact with people.
Since then, 30-year-old Matsumoto has started a creative journey with "sound" as the medium. He has traveled to Southeast Asia, China, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places for a long time, and is used to collecting small bells and musical instruments as creative inspiration.
From the very beginning, all materials that can form works, such as metal and wood, were used to make small musical instruments, and then they were gradually simplified to bamboo. Good plasticity and simple texture are the reasons why Matsumoto chose bamboo. There are more than 300 kinds of small bamboo musical instruments invented in the past, and Matsumoto combined them to create the "Bamboo Music Theater".
Matsumoto's "Bamboo Sound Theater" has exhibited as many as 100 shows all over the world, and will be recreated according to the local environment and culture every time, and will not be repeated.
This time Matsumoto was invited to participate in the international earth art season in Wulong Lamba. He chose a half-century earthen house, which was on the verge of demolition. He brought his most representative 30 kinds of small musical instruments and re-created them with local bamboo weavers.
In the past six months, they have learned and studied from each other. In addition to Matsumoto's original creative ideas, such as how to cut open bamboo joints on the spot more quickly and the modeling creativity of indoor wavy patterns, these folk craftsmen have made more surprises in their works.
Brief introduction of Athena Chu Theatre
From mid-September last year, he went to inspect the site selection, and now his creation has been basically completed. Matsumoto took his most famous project-"Bamboo Music Theater" as the prototype, adapted to local conditions, and used more than 100 pieces of small bamboo musical instruments, which made this originally barren earthen house glow with vitality.
From a distance, these bamboo gadgets look like dragonflies, birds, big fish and windmills. When you get closer, you exclaim: everything is actually a small musical instrument that can make sound! The sound of the huqin, the bell and the erhu makes them full of vitality.
They are distributed in various areas of this house, some of which interpret the ocean, but there are Japanese dry mountains and rivers culture; Some interpret the forest and present the texture of time; Others come from hills, moon shadows, mountain winds, bird songs, forests and fog everywhere.
In particular, the scene on the second floor with the concept of shadow play describes the transformation of light and shadow from sunrise to sunset. Forests, waterwheels, rivers and fish swim among them, full of aura and magic. Walking in is like walking into a distant childhood dream.
Similar different scenes are available indoors and outdoors, and the artist's intentions and thoughts can be achieved.
The shell of a seemingly ordinary adobe country cottage is implanted with the sounds of nature from Shan Ye. When you stand there and listen, you will feel that these "tinkling" sounds are the harmony of this old house. After sleeping for half a century, it finally woke up. It was Matsumoto's "magic" that awakened all this.
