Zhang Hu’s achievements and honors

He began publishing works in 1959 and won the Special Contribution Award for Chinese Calligraphy Art in May 2001. Since the 1980s, his calligraphy works have participated in many national calligraphy exhibitions, the 20th Century Calligraphy Exhibition, the Millennium Calligraphy Exhibition, the First Chinese Calligraphy Franchise Award Works Exhibition, and also participated in Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, the United States, France, and Malaysia. He has participated in international calligraphy exhibitions such as China and Canada, and visited some countries and regions for calligraphy exchanges and lectures. At the same time, he has served as a judge for many domestic and international calligraphy competitions and exhibitions. In 1985, the "Zhang Hu Northwest Travel Photography and Calligraphy Exhibition" was held in Beijing, and in 1997, the "Shen Peng and Zhang Hu Calligraphy Observation Exhibition" was held in Taiwan. His calligraphy works have been collected by many museums and have been selected into many museums. Newspapers and calligraphy works collections and "Chinese Calligraphy Dictionary", CCTV, People's Daily, Japan's "Asahi Shimbun", American NBC TV and other media have made special reports. He has written dozens of steles and inscriptions for places of interest across the country.

Published works include "Northwestern Customs", "Selected Novels and Prose by Zhang Hu", "Leisure Essays", "Zhang Hu's Book of Crescent Bay Poems", "Song of She Inkstone", "Introduction to Calligraphy for Primary and Secondary School Students" and "Collection of Zhang Hu's Calligraphy". Chief editor of "Colorful Life", "Sentimental Scenery", "Dragon and Tiger Calligraphy", "Collection of Mottoes of Calligraphers and Painters", "Beijing Today", etc.

In July 2011, he wrote the inscription for the "Invitational Exhibition of Works by Famous Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Masters to Celebrate the 90th Birthday of the Communist Party of China"!
