The Glory of the Last Overlord —— Experience the Hong Kong Toyota Previa Previa

Before Erffa came out, Toyota Previa was the most luxurious MPV in Toyota series. Because of its unique appearance and high-end positioning, the former name "Bawang" has become the representative of Japanese luxury MPV in people's minds. However, times have changed, and after the drastic changes in the market environment and consumers' demands for a more refined MPV, the once dominant car series is coming to an end. In 20 17, the final Prievia, which is based on the improvement of the third generation Prievia, went on the market. This model only launched the right rudder version, and missed the Chinese mainland market. This time, we experienced a Toyota Previa seven-seat version introduced by the agent.

1.? A rounded and pointed appearance.

The first-generation Previa released by 1990 left a deep impression on consumers with its extremely round appearance, and also gave the first-generation model the nickname of "bullet" among the people. Meanwhile, Chevrolet Lumina? APV also has the nickname of bullet, but the model is far less than the original Previa circle in shape.

Since then, the second and third generation Previa has continued its sleek style in appearance, but in the cosmetic version of this third generation model, it has also added a sporty orientation. Although not as good as Toyota's "keen" in recent years? Look is so radical, but as a luxury MPV that has nothing to do with sportiness and youthfulness, such a style change is enough to be a bold attempt.

Compared with the previous version of the third generation, the headlights are further narrowed and have a flat feeling. In the previous version, the air intake grille between the two headlights has been completely transferred to the license plate frame below, and there is still a symbolic air intake grille between the two headlights, but the actual effect is not great, mainly relying on the air intake grille below.

Daytime running lights have been added to the car. Although daytime running lights are no longer the new configuration of cars, the third-generation predecessor version released in 2006 obviously has nothing to do with this configuration. The cosmetic version of 20 17 adds daytime running lights to the headlights and the front bumper, but the two lights are not directly connected, but are connected by black decorative strips, which is helpful for the integration of the front of the car.

Toyota's JDM (Japanese market-specific model) models all hang the unique logo on the front of the car, hang Toyota's bull's head on the rear, and export models hang Toyota's bull's head on the front and back. Of course, there are a few exceptions. The domestic version of Toyota Crown is a classic crown logo, and the head of the 12 Toyota Crown Hong Kong version is the Toyota Tau logo. In addition, the Hong Kong version of Toyota Erffa has always hung its own unique logo, and the latest 20 18 Erffa has its own unique logo on the front of the car no matter what version.

The Japanese version of Toyota Previa is called "Estima" and a logo similar to the letter E is hung on the front of the car. The previous Hong Kong version did not use the name Estima, but always called Previa, so it also used the Toyota Tau logo like other Toyota export models. However, although the name of this third-generation late model is still Previa, and it uses the same E-head logo as the Japanese version of Estima, it seems that Toyota does not want to make a unique change for the export version of this late model.

Because it is only a mid-term modified model of the third-generation model, there is no difference between the car and the third-generation model in the shape of the body side. In recent years, more and more models strive for simplicity on the side of the car body, but this Prievia, like Japanese models, retains the chrome trim strips on the side of the car body. The car has no chrome decoration on the door handle and window frame, which is quite different from the Chinese mainland MPV which uses chrome decoration as decoration to enhance the sense of luxury.

The wheel hub is a brand-new design. Although the design tends to be sporty, it is not too radical and still belongs to a more attractive shape. Although the impression is good, the actual size is not large. The third generation pre-installed version has a 225/50. R 18 size, but this time only 2 15/55? R 17 but thicker side walls can ensure quiet and comfortable driving.

The shape of the rear of the car has not changed much, but the internal arrangement of the taillights has changed. Although it is a model released on 20 17, the taillights are still ordinary light sources, and only the brake lights use LED light sources. There is a bulge at the taillight, which looks like a small tail from the side.

2. Luxurious but not tacky interior

The shape of steering wheel has changed. The third-generation predecessor version of the steering wheel can be found to use the same mold as the sixth-generation Camry, with four moderate shapes and wood grain decoration. This small change was replaced by a younger three-piece suit without wood grain decoration.

Compared with the previous models, the overall layout of the center console has not changed, and it is still a central dashboard with a brand-new design inside, but you still need to aim at the left side to observe the dashboard while driving. The iconic semi-suspended center console is still retained, but it has been changed from the previous wood grain decoration to bright black. As a model launched by the agent, the navigation system of the car was added later, giving people a sense of disobedience.

The air conditioning system is changed from the previous version of knob plus button operation to the current touch operation. The advantages and disadvantages of touch operation have always been a topic of concern, but using touch buttons can make cars look forward to the times.

As a typical Japanese MPV, the use of space has always been the best in this type of car. This Previa car has a lot of storage space. The storage box behind the steering wheel used to open to the driver's side, but it was changed to open upward on the modified model. The inside of the storage box is not deep, so it is easier to take things. There is a glove box and a large storage box on the co-pilot side. The two storage boxes are not flocked, but the damping feeling is good. I believe that the upper storage box will not affect the airbag of the co-pilot.

There is no need to worry about the luxury of Previa, and the front door panel is decorated with leather, which makes it feel extremely comfortable. Although the center console is decorated with bright black paint, the door panel is decorated with wood grain. Compared with the bright crimson wood grain of the previous model, this modified model adopts matte wood grain, which is more elegant as a whole. A few years ago, it was used by the media to ridicule the one-button window lifting of Japanese cars. Naturally, it will not be absent on this high-end MPV. The second row of glass can also be lifted and lowered by electricity instead of negative pressure window opening.

3. More practical but not luxurious second row

Compared with the handles on the ceremonial chairs in the middle and high-end Erffa models, the chairs in the first row of Privia have no other configuration except the most conventional file bags. The front seat gives people a thick feeling, and unlike other Japanese cars, the front seat has not been thinned in exchange for the second row of seating space.

The second row is not equipped with any audio-visual entertainment equipment. The roof has independent air conditioning, and the second row of roof skylights can also be controlled independently. There are independent reading lights and air conditioning outlets on the left and right roofs of the second row.

Two independent seats in the second row have become the standard of luxury MPV, and the two seats in the second row have armrests on the left and right sides. The seat is made of leather and Alcantara commonly used in high-end cars, and grid-like stitching is also used to enhance the luxury inside the car.

There is also a large storage box in the middle of the second row of seats, which can move back and forth, but it also prevents the third row of passengers from entering the third row through the gap between the two seats in the second row. There is a lot of space in the storage box, but there is no USB interface inside, so it is impossible to charge the mobile phone.

4.? Conclusion: Do we still need Previa?

Born in 1990, Prievia, the original factory with streamlined appearance, has become a "future model" that attracts worldwide attention. With its modern design, great luxury and excellent quality, Prievia, the original factory, has become one of the few Japanese cars and swept across Asia, Europe and America in a single shape. In Chinese mainland, this car is the collective memory of many people in the 1990s, and the nickname of bullet also witnessed the strong reputation of this car among the people.

However, with sienna, born in 1997, entering North America, replacing the original Privia, the cars that once swept the world gradually became Asian-oriented models. Not only has it been replaced in North America, but the positioning of Previa in the Asian market has also become embarrassing. Erffa, born in 2002, replaced Previa as Toyota's most luxurious MPV. Although the prices of the two products were quite different at that time, the original Erffa did not have a left-hand drive model, and the contradiction between the two cars was not outstanding. However, the emergence of Erffa has made some buyers who originally wanted to buy Japanese high-end MPV only buy Previa because of the product line, and they have a higher-end choice. As a home MPV, Previa is too expensive and high-end, but as a luxury MPV, it has been suppressed by Erffa, and this product has become somewhat embarrassing.

At present, the latest third-generation modified version of Previa costs HK$ 489,900, and the Hong Kong version of Erffa costs HK$ 549,900. The difference between them is only 60,000 yuan, and the luxury of Previa is not enough to make up for the difference of 60,000 yuan between it and the low-priced Erffa. In addition, the technology used by Previa since 2006 makes this product more and more unnecessary. Later, in the right rudder market, the downward price of Erffa will replace Previa. In Chinese mainland, there was no left-handed version of Erffa before, which provided a kind of "shelter" for Previa. However, when the demand for higher-end MPV in Chinese mainland market is getting stronger and stronger, and Erffa has achieved great success, Previa is also facing an embarrassing situation. No matter for cost or self-positioning, this car will not condescend to compete with MPVs such as GL8. The Senna process is basically only a matter of time, which also makes the market not need the luxury of Previa, and use more MPVs at home.

I never deny the excellent product strength of this car, but it is not other brands that beat it, but Toyota itself. 1990 future MPV, as round as a bullet, will remain in many people's memories. ...
