There are two doctoral programs in cartography and geographic information system and remote sensing of resources and environment, and two master programs in cartography and geographic information system and photogrammetry and remote sensing. The undergraduate major is geographic information system. Cartography and Geographic Information System (GIS) are the key disciplines in Jiangsu Province, and they are also the national key disciplines of "Physical Geography" together with other majors in geography. "Geographic Information System" undergraduate major is a characteristic major in Jiangsu Province. Together with other majors in geography, we have established a national basic scientific research and talent training base for geography, and established professional practice bases with China Academy of Surveying and Mapping, Institute of Geography and Lakes of China Academy of Sciences, Jiangsu Basic Geographic Information Center, Jiangsu Surveying and Mapping Engineering Research Institute, Nanjing Surveying and Mapping Research Institute, Zhenjiang Surveying and Mapping Research Institute, Esri Company, Jiangsu Goldmic Digital Space Technology Co., Ltd. and other units. The discipline has grown from less than 10 students at the beginning to more than 130 undergraduate students and 150 master students and doctoral students at present, which has trained and transported nearly 2000 high-quality talents for the country. Graduates are distributed in government departments at all levels, universities, scientific research institutions and high-tech companies, mainly engaged in management, teaching, scientific research and information technology development related to geographic information science, and many of them are excellent.
