For the focal plane shutter of most SLR cameras, there are two curtains in front of the sensor. After pressing the shutter, the first curtain is pulled up, the shutter is opened, and light is allowed to irradiate the sensor. Then, when the predetermined exposure time expires, the second curtain moves together with the first curtain and blocks light, so that the sensor stops receiving light.

The most basic and minimum requirement of a photo is that the picture should be clear. If you want to take a picture without blurring manually, the easiest way is to take the shutter quickly enough. But if the shutter is too fast, it may cause underexposure.

So, after continuous shooting, the photographer came up with the theory of the slowest shutter value without shaking hands, which is the so-called safety shutter.

Traditionally, a simple and general definition of safety shutter is that the shutter value is not slower than the reciprocal of the focal length of the lens. If 35mm is used, the shutter value is generally 1/35, so you can take photos without shaking hands.

In a dim environment, when shooting with a lens, the shutter speed must be 30mm faster than the focal length 1/30s.

Only in this way can the digital photos be clear and the shooting be successful. If a full-frame camera with a lens of 24-70 mm is used, the safety shutter is 1/24 seconds when the lens is at the widest end of 24 mm and 1/70 seconds when the lens is at the 70 mm end.
