How to find the breakthrough point of food photography
1. Simplify the background so that only the only thing you want to shoot is in the picture.
Remember the content of the last class? 1 The picture below was taken at a high angle, and the picture below was taken at a low angle. Both pictures are single light source, one is light and the other is natural light (see the first lesson for light source analysis).
2. If you can't get a clean background, it is close enough to your theme, so that it can fill the picture and firmly attract readers' attention.
The picture below is also a work with a single light source (see lesson 1) and a low angle (see lesson 2).
3. If you have a large aperture lens, such as Canon's 50 1.8 entry focus setting, you can try method 3. Open the aperture to blur the background, so that the only clear part of the picture is your subject.
The picture below is an example of high-angle shooting, and the only light source comes from the window on the right hand side.
4. After mastering the above methods, students with good progress can try Method 4.
By observing or adjusting the scene light, or adopting certain post-processing means, your subject will become the only bright and visible part in your picture.
The picture below is an example of shooting at a low angle, and the only light source enters from the front of the photographer.
Why choose a low angle? Because the light source is in front of us, lowering the position can reduce the amount of light entering the lens, thus creating the effect of dim surroundings and bright cakes. Of course, here, the white cream on the cake also plays a good role in reflecting light, which contributes to this local bright result. This passage may be difficult for beginners to understand, but it doesn't matter. After a little attempt, you will suddenly realize that the combination of light source and flat chair can bring endless creativity to the work, which we will analyze one by one in the later advanced courses. At this stage, beginners should practice more. )
After reading the four methods, we can easily find that the methods 1 and 2 are relatively direct, which makes the picture only have the first subject, which is a bit so-called simple and rude. Methods 3 and 4 are circuitous and graceful. Method 3 keeps the reader's attention only on the first topic through clear and vague comparison. The fourth method is to focus the reader's attention on the first subject through the contrast between light and dark. When we practice, we will gradually increase the difficulty according to the steps of 1, 2, 3 and 4, which is also a good cut-in process.
Today's keywords: the starting point of shooting.
Picking up the camera and facing a pile of pots and pans, I don't know where to start to sort out the picture. This is the confusion that most friends who are in contact with still life shooting for the first time encounter.
