Five suggestions to help you improve your photography: David Hobcott

1, this sounds simple, but it's true. Appreciating excellent photography can make you a better photographer. Learn from the best photographers in your subject area.

Constantly watching other photographers' works and knowing which aspects of these works impress you most will greatly help you improve your photography level. I hope you can learn which photographers more seriously, not for excellent photographers, but for the best photographers. A good photographer can attract your attention and interest, and make you stop and study hard. When you see such works, you can ask yourself the following questions:

What places in the photo immediately attracted you? Is it light? Is it a model? Or composition? After finding the reasons, try to reproduce these factors in your photos.

Observe the time when the photo was taken. Was it taken before dawn or after sunrise? Try to find a pattern from the photo, and then you shoot at the same time.

What keeps appearing in wonderful works?

There are many excellent photographic resources on the Internet. You can find and watch according to your favorite theme (such as scenery).

2. Showing only your best photos is not your personal favorite, but what you think is worth showing.

A successful photographer was once asked a simple question: How can I become a great photographer? His answer is equally simple: never let others see your bad photos. This is correct. Many people feel the need to constantly publish photos online, and as a result, they compromise on quality and eventually damage their reputation. You should correct this mistake and show only your best photos.

If you can't make up your mind about a photo, it means it's not good enough. You should only show your most confident works. It is better to show only the five best works than to show the eight best works with two ordinary photos. Those two ordinary photos will affect the audience's recognition of the other eight excellent works. The old law is still valid here: quality is better than quantity.

3. The third point focuses more on landscape photography. To be a great landscape photographer, you need to surpass the will and persistence of ordinary people.

If you take a photo in a place and are not satisfied because of the light or other reasons, you should go back to the old place again until you get a satisfactory work. If you communicate with those successful landscape photographers, they will tell you many stories, similar to the painful experience of finding out that the weather is not beautiful after a long wait. You must accept the fact that you can't bring back excellent photos every time you go out to shoot. If you can find a few photos worth sharing every time, the most likely reason is not that you are lucky enough, but that your expectations are too low. It may take several years to accumulate a batch of proud photos. Because of this, landscape photographers are worthy of respect.

4. Learn as many types and styles of photography as possible.

As the saying goes, it is never too old to learn. You should never stop studying. You can learn from other photographers you like, or you can often attend some classes or seminars to share your experiences with others. But don't expect professional photographers to always share their successful experiences with you for free. You have to understand that they need to support themselves by their own jobs.

Finally, let's go out and take photos.

Stop chattering and take action. You will keep making mistakes and getting hit on the way to practice, but you are also accumulating experience. Every failed photo is a lesson. Studying hard will make you better and better. Everyone makes mistakes, and more and more mistakes will be made, but every mistake will make you grow. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Keep shooting.
