Others in the rural trilogy

The 1980s was the glorious period of China's films. During this period, Xi Yingmen, Our Cow is Hundred Years Old and Life all became popular movies. In the middle and late 1990s, the film market in China entered a trough, reaching its lowest point around 1998. During this period, there were basically no pure rural films that could impress the audience. Rural TV series came into being at this time, the most famous of which is the "rural trilogy" by the Han brothers.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Han Zhijun and Korea were famous for their rural trilogy Fence, Woman and Dog (1989), Pulley, Woman and Well (199 1), Ancient Boat and Woman and the Net. Jujube flower, Maoyuan old man, bronze lock, Xiao Geng and other roles left a deep impression on the audience. Han Zhijun, who grew up in other places, has a strong rural complex. The vast countryside in Northeast China is the foundation of Han Zhijun's artistic creation and an inexhaustible source of his inspiration and passion. From his works, the audience and readers can feel the pure pastoral poetry. Famous critics such as Zhong once wrote: "The rural trilogy such as Fence, Woman and Dog is actually about the psychological history of contemporary farmers." This broke the original intention of Han Zhijun's creation.

Xiao Feng, a photographer who co-produced the film One and Eight with Zhang Yimou, came to Shenyang An Baili Studios for publicity with his rural trilogy "The Story of Crossing the Kans", "The Story of Clear Water" and "The Story of the Sea". This is his latest work, which was shot in Liaoning in recent two years.

Xiao Feng's rural trilogy tells the changes in rural areas of China in the past 30 years of reform and opening up, and the joys and sorrows experienced by farmers in the changes. The most striking feature of the three new films is that all the actors in the films are unprofessional actors. Xiao Feng spoke highly of the professionalism of these actors and "performed more vividly"

These three films are not very commercial, but they are very artistic. The story of "Scream Over the Canopy" is humorous and the comedy color is very moving. Qingshui's story has a distinct theme, which stems from environmental protection and caring for rural farmers. "The Story of the Sea" tells the story of deaf-mute people pursuing emotion in a closed world.
