What kind of photography does the wandering earth use?

1905 The theme Wandering Earth exploded on the movie network, and Frant Gwo became angry and busier at the same time. In the eyes of many people, he has become an important label of "China science fiction movies". He frequently appeared in various film activities, and The Wandering Earth even became an examination question in high school papers.

There is no doubt that after the release of The Wandering Earth, he is still the "king of traffic". In the past six months, he has also been exposed to new news. Wandering Earth 2 has entered the preparatory stage and is expected to officially meet the audience in the next two and a half to three years. Wandering Earth reprint "Wandering Earth: Leap 2020 Special Edition" is about to land on the big screen. In this version, the new content of 10- 15 minutes has been added.

At the same time, his film Sacrifice, co-produced with Guan Hu and Yang Lu, is being filmed in Dandong, and it is scheduled to be released at the end of 10.

Time is tight and Frant Gwo is in a hurry. Even so, he took the time to do a great thing-at the 2020 Beijing International Film Festival, he and the Beijing Film Academy set up the "Film Industrialization Laboratory" to sort out a set of standard production processes suitable for China film industry in China.

Because in those years when he filmed The Wandering Earth, he tried to solve problems in a way that exhausted his physical strength, but he was lucky that all those problems were solved, and the film also achieved both market and word-of-mouth success. Now, he especially wants to go back and fill in the holes he encountered in the past so that others can go more smoothly in the future.

The problem now

In fact, the exploration of film industrialization in China began to be discussed from "Seeking Dragons".

However, this situation does not seem to have improved significantly. It was not until the advent of The Wandering Earth that this topic was once again brought to the table for discussion. With a script of more than one million words, an eight-month world view, a centenary chronicle from 1977 to 2075, conceptual design, story localization, production and shooting, and post-production special effects, The Wandering Earth finally made the audience in China boil.

However, Frant Gwo didn't jump for joy, but fell into greater meditation. There is a big gap between the level of China film industry and that of Hollywood film industry, which is likely to affect the creation of future projects.

For example, when Frant Gwo is filming the weightlessness of the space station, Jason Wu needs to hang Victoria. In the past, nature is not a big problem. But this time, the actor needs to wear a spacesuit of sixty or seventy pounds to hang Weiya, and the whole person's center of gravity is unstable. As a result, after a scene, his thighs were congested.

This is the normal state of the whole crew in the shooting process, with a team of 7000 people, 155 days and 37 hours of continuous shooting. This kind of "industrialization of human flesh" is the current domestic situation, and the staff can only fill it out by hand, and everyone can only work overtime.

After the success of the film, Frant Gwo reviewed the experience and lessons of the past four years with The Wandering Earth's whole team. Not only that, they also went overseas to discuss the development of world film industrialization with those more experienced filmmakers. Frant Gwo is not the first person to encounter this pit.

Chen Sicheng had a similar feeling when he filmed Detective Chinatown 2. At that time, the crew chose to shoot in new york, which became the first American trade union film invested by China. Therefore, the whole shooting must abide by the local industry system, not only strict working hours and salary system-double the salary on weekends, basically not accepting overtime work, but also complicated procedures to apply for a venue, not only to abide by various rules and regulations, but also to make great efforts to change it ... it may not be changed.

This requires the shooting team to have a very detailed shooting plan. If you simply say "I want this feeling" to the staff, the shooting process may not be able to advance. Indeed, stimulated by these circumstances, China's industrialization must make more mature changes as soon as possible.

past experience

At the end of 20 14, director Frant Gwo was invited by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television to go abroad for an inspection tour, and began his study and observation tour at Paramount Film Company in the United States. Directors Chen Sicheng, Ning Hao and Yang Lu accompanied him. After returning home, these directors handed over their "learning experience" one after another.

Chen Sicheng finished "Detective Chinatown", Frant Gwo took over The Wandering Earth, Ning Hao began to prepare "Crazy Alien" and Luyang began to prepare "The Writer's Odyssey".

In this study, Frant Gwo was deeply impressed by Hollywood's industrial system. "Now Hollywood filmmakers talk to you about the necessity of good stories, good people and good ideas, and no one talks to you about industrialization."

So what is industry? In Frant Gwo's eyes, industry is a tool that can optimize film production. He believes that "in order to mass-produce in the future, we must first understand the underlying logic of industrialization, that is, it must be standardized and quantifiable, and then it can be distributed, divided, and improved."

Wandering earth became his first experiment. At that time, the whole screenwriter team consisted of seven people, some of whom were responsible for the natural environment and social ecological design of the future world, and some specially wrote slogans and other details in these environments. Everyone works together through scriptwriting software.

Movie script software can standardize the script format, unify the font, format and line spacing ... It can also count how many dialogues each character has spoken and how many times each scene has been used, and can adjust the direction of the script and the direction of the characters in time.

Producers have a certain concept when they get the script under this standard. For example, the script page 90- 12 is actually a complete benchmark for the film duration of 90- 120 minutes. Then the producer can directly feel the story rhythm and structure of the film when watching it. In addition to the scriptwriting software, there is also the corresponding software used during recording.

But at that time, some staff didn't want to use it and thought it was not as convenient as a piece of paper. "You are fast today, but you should remember that one hundred days is one hundred pieces of paper, and you need to find any information in one hundred pieces of paper. How can I find it quickly? What should I do if I lose these files? " Frant Gwo directly pointed out the problem of the old method.

Obviously, the film industrialization in China is not just a film, or it can be changed by a filmmaker. What is involved is more talent training in the whole industry chain.

Future exploration

What the film industrialization laboratory will do in the future is to cultivate more Frant Gwo. Under this talent training mechanism, Frant Gwo is gradually undergoing a brand-new process. In addition to the above-mentioned script standardization, he also put forward an updated viewpoint-virtual production.

This model has been tried for the first time in Yang Lu's new film The Writer's Odyssey, and this technology is actually the so-called preview. In the past, before shooting a feature film, the director would simply make an animation sample for investors to see, and present his own shot schedule, narrative, rhythm and so on in advance. Is the so-called rehearsal, without the participation of the leading actor, completely adopts the digital body body double, and lets the actors perform in motion capture suits and shoot with virtual cameras.

Frant Gwo also predicted that in the future, virtual images will be closer to the real shooting effect. He also mentioned that when shooting Adventures of Li Xianji, the gap between his shot and the final film was about 30 minutes, but with the appearance of dynamic preview, the gap will gradually narrow to about 65,438+00 minutes.

It can be seen that the upgrading of the industry needs the drive of technology, and the mode of virtual production represents the future of the industry. Of course, we also understand that the process of film industrialization in China will take some time, but this time will be continuously compressed with the efforts of this group of filmmakers.
