How to shoot sunrise and sunset?

Sunrise and sunset are our common scenery, and they are also the targets of many photographers and photographers. Because the artistic conception expressed by sunrise and sunset is grand and bleak, there used to be "lonely and straight smoke, the long river sets the yen" and "watching the sun, despite its glory, buried by the coming night" If you want to shoot sunrise and sunset, what will you do? Can't shoot? The photography skills that Bian Xiao told you.

Time selection

Estimate the sunrise and sunset time one or two days in advance to see if the weather is suitable for shooting. We usually choose to wait one hour before sunrise and sunset. In general, the scenery will disappear after half an hour. Wait for half an hour so as not to miss it.

Location selection

Sunrise and sunset are mostly seascapes and mountain views. It is recommended to choose rivers, lakes, beaches, or climb mountains to wait for sunrise and sunset. Of course, climbing the tower in the city is also a good choice. Because we need a grand scene to express it, other scenes are rarely used, so we won't discuss it for the time being.

Equipment preparation

Camera wide-angle lens (standard zoom lens is ok, but the wide-angle effect will be better), tripod and cable are all released. Take rain gear and camera protection tools in rainy days.

Aircraft position selection

In fact, it is very important to step on an airplane seat in many travel or landscape photography. You may have to sit in the plane seat two or three times to see if it is good or bad.

A good plane seat is composed of many aspects, such as direction, prospect, weather, light, people and so on.

Direction:

When shooting the sunset, the sun sets in the west, which is known (if you don't know which side is the west, use the compass to find it in advance); You don't have to face the west, but after all, you are shooting the sunset. Your general direction should be facing west;

Potential customer selection:

In landscape photography, there are many sunsets with buildings, mountains, running water and some special environments as the foreground, which can improve the layering of photos.

Weather:

It is said that landscape photography depends on the weather, which is true. Catch up with the extreme weather of rain, sometimes I can't shoot it. I suggest you check the weather forecast in advance before you go to the flight or city; Especially now the weather forecast app is very powerful, which can display cloud cover, atmospheric visibility, atmospheric transparency, gale warning and so on.

Recommend an app with better weather: Qingzhong.

Light:

In the shooting of sunset, the light changes very quickly, and it is more necessary to step on the spot. It is common to shoot the sunset with sidelight, backlight and sidelight. Each kind of light has its own characteristics, and the final result is different.

I prefer to shoot the sunset against the light. This is the problem that the light level is very rich, but the light ratio is very large. If you shoot, you should add GND mirrors or adjust the light ratio after sunset.

People and fixed objects as foreground.

Suitable buildings and rivers are ideal prospects for shooting sunsets. However, when you shoot in a place without these prospects, you need to find a place closest to you that suits you. Trees, animals, people or abandoned vehicles may be the subjects of your sunset shooting.

Looking for two small trees as the foreground, just right, will make the picture not crowded, and the whole picture feels neat.

Camera setting and shooting skills

Sunrise shooting:

Arrive before dawn and set up a tripod.

Set to manual mode (M-Mode), aperture f/8, automatic ISO off (if on), ISO set to the lowest level, such as ISO 100, and shutter for 30 seconds (if the clouds move faster, you can speed up the shutter speed, but increase the aperture or improve ISO coordination).

When autofocusing, set the focus to infinity, you can use distant buildings or luminous objects to assist focusing, and then set the focus to ManuelFocus.

When the sky changes color and you feel bored, you can take some pictures of the starry sky (see this article for the setting of aperture shutter).

After the sky begins to change color, take a photo with cable release (if any) and observe the brightness of the actual photo to adjust the shutter.

You can also try to shoot a straight line. After moving the camera, it is best to repeat the focus setting in (3).

You can use gradient gray filters with different brightness, preferably anti-GND.

When the sun is getting higher and higher, the light will become fierce. It is necessary to increase the shutter speed fr

When the shutter speed exceeds the safety shutter, you can shoot it by hand to increase the maneuverability.

When shooting at sunrise, the sun actually rises very fast, so the shutter speed must be adjusted quickly.

When you plan to shoot the sunrise, you might as well go to the scene early and shoot the starry sky!

Sunset shooting

Arrive at the shooting location 30 to 60 minutes before sunset and set up a tripod.

Set it to manual mode (M mode), aperture f/8, automatic ISO off (if on), and ISO is set to the lowest level, such as ISO 100, shutter1100 seconds (please take a picture, depending on the light at that time).

When autofocusing, the focus is set to infinity. You can use distant buildings or luminous objects to assist focusing, and then set the focusing to ManuelFocus.

Waiting for the sky to change color.

After the sky begins to change color, take a photo with cable release (if any) and observe the brightness of the actual photo to adjust the shutter.

You can also try to shoot a straight line. After moving the camera, it is best to repeat the focus setting in (3).

Different brightness can make good use of different degrees of gradient gray filters. At first, ordinary GND is used, and when the sunset reaches the horizontal line, reverse GND (reverse gradient gray) is used.

When the sun is getting lower and lower, the environment will get darker and darker. Slow down the shutter speed from time to time to keep the exposure correct, because the light changes quickly, so move quickly.

At sunset, the GND gradient gray filter can be used to balance the light difference.

About white balance

White balance can be used to change the color of photos. When the camera is set to a low K value (for example, 2700K), the photo will appear colder/bluer, and vice versa (for example, 7000K), the photo will appear warmer/yellower. I suggest that the sunrise can make the photos cool and the sunset can make the photos warm to show the atmosphere. For more information, please refer to: the magic of white balance that makes the photo atmosphere stronger!
