How powerful is the fiber-guided missile developed by China?
The head of the fiber-optic guided missile is equipped with a low-light-level television camera or an infrared imaging seeker, and the tail of the fiber-optic guided missile is connected with the launch control device. When the missile flies, the optical fiber is released from the tail, at the same time, the camera of the seeker transmits the target image to the launch control device, and the control instruction is transmitted to the missile guidance system through the optical fiber to control the missile to hit the target. Due to the large amount of information transmitted by optical fiber, wide frequency band, low power consumption and minimal self-radiation, optical fiber guided missiles have strong target recognition ability, high guidance accuracy and good anti-interference. Fiber-guided missiles are still in the stage of engineering development, and the United States, France, Germany and Brazil are all developing them.
Optical fiber guided missiles such as Red Arrow 10 need to be equipped with optical fiber to transmit the target image shot by the guidance head and the instructions sent by the launch vehicle to the missile.
Similar missiles, such as Red Arrow 10, use thermal imaging or white light photography detection technology, and these images need to be transmitted back to the launch vehicle through optical fiber, so that the crew on board can judge the target situation and even change the attack target.
The green part in the picture below, the black cylinder at the bottom, is the part of storing optical fiber similar to an optical fiber missile.
The guidance head used in the Red Arrow 10 missile senses the temperature of the object, so each pixel of it actually has only one value representing the temperature, which is converted into an intuitive image through gray scale for the guidance system. Gray image, that is, black and white image.
In fact, black and white and color are not the key to the difference. These colors are called pseudo-colors, and the resulting signals are transformed into visible images through image processing, that is, virtual. Even the effect of output color is only that the software assigns different colors to different signals according to different signal outputs. The purpose of creating a virtual color image is simple, that is, to make the temperature information more comprehensive, such as the hot engine is red and white, and the cold stone is gray and white at night. The black-and-white image can highlight the target in the ground background image more obviously. Therefore, black and white are generally used for aiming equipment and other products, such as the image output by Red Arrow 10. Color is mostly used for temperature measurement or scientific research.
