Organic seal = safe? Confidence test!

The trend of organic health care is booming, and even county and city leaders regard providing organic vegetables for primary school students as a nutritious lunch as a political achievement, so that children are not always worried about eating fruits and vegetables containing pesticides by mistake. However, in the past, there have been incidents in which pesticide residues were detected in fruits and vegetables by organic verification, which inevitably made people question the reliability of organic vegetable labels. Can organic vegetable labels prove 100% that food is non-toxic and untrustworthy? Let's hear what the experts say. (Audio-visual/photojournalist Jiang Yunjun)

Guo Huaren, a professor at the College of Agriculture and Research Institute of Taiwan Province Provincial University, said that when organic agriculture was first promoted, few consumers would buy organic agricultural products. Usually, they are neighbors who live near organic farms. Because I am familiar with farmers, I often go to his fields to see that pesticides and fertilizers are not used in the planting process, which invisibly establishes the foundation of confidence and can be completely trusted without organic verification.

However, with the popularization of the concept of organic agricultural products, more and more consumers want to eat organic products, but not everyone has the opportunity to contact organic farmers. When the trust foundation between consumers and producers is weakened or broken, it is necessary to re-establish the trust foundation through other channels, and this channel is the so-called third-party verification.

The so-called "third-party verification" means that a verification company or unit that has been certified by * * * and can carry out organic verification business checks whether farmers meet the criteria of organic planting according to a set of standards, and issues verification labels for qualified products. Even if consumers don't know farmers, they can have confidence and establish a trust relationship with producers on the level of "indirect purchase".
