After watching "We Are Born in China",
Three years ago, a top Disney photography team came to China. More than 100 foreigners, led by director Lu Chuan, traveled throughout Qinghai, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Heilongjiang to photograph rare animals unique to China.
They worked hard for three years with low wages and made a big movie: "We Are Born in China", which has been released now.
The film uses beautiful outdoor shots to tell the story of the growth of their families around three national treasures: snow leopard Dawa, golden monkey Taotao, and giant panda Yaya.
More than 10 snow leopards were filmed in the film, and their footage was eventually edited into the story of a snow leopard named Dawa, who raised two children alone.
Since the snow leopard’s living space has been squeezed to a very small area, it has to expand its hunting area. This also made shooting them the most difficult part of the film, with almost no shots being shot in the first month.
Fortunately, we finally locked down their habitat, and were able to record footage of baby snow leopards in 4K high-definition for the first time in the world.
The budget of the entire movie is only 10 million US dollars. In the crazy money-burning movie market, it is only enough to shoot a simple love scene.
However, the five world-class photographers of "We Are Born in China", with five film crews mainly from the United Kingdom and the United States, shot 350 hours of wildlife footage in an extremely difficult natural environment. .
The story of Taotao, the golden monkey, mainly takes place between it, its father, and some "bad friends". After the birth of his younger sister, Taotao found that he had fallen out of favor. He wanted to get close to his father, but was roughly slapped away...
Wild animals cannot be photographed, there is no CG, no lighting, and they have to be shot in a pure environment Under natural conditions, the difficulty of accurately photographing the hair characteristics of golden monkeys is definitely not comparable to that of other movies.
Moreover, monkeys often come to turn over photographic equipment, and even once took out the filters in the bag and broke them.
The giant panda part tells the story of a giant panda named Yaya and her daughter.
In order to get close to wild giant pandas, the staff had to disguise themselves as pandas in hot weather. The filming was almost exhausting.
In addition, there are a large number of other wild animals in the movie as supporting characters, such as red-crowned cranes and Tibetan antelopes.
Director Lu Chuan filmed the movie "Kekexili" 12 years ago, which aroused the protection of wild Tibetan antelopes, causing their population to increase tenfold, and now they are out of the endangered situation.
Twelve years have passed, a reincarnation. Lu Chuan filmed "We Are Born in China" again.
Before filming, Lu Chuan had written a script, but the fact is that not a day was filmed according to the script. The animals "did not follow the routine", so Lu Chuan kept reframing it with fresh materials day by day. story. In more than 350 hours of material, what Lu Chuan saw in animals was happiness.
"Their living conditions may not be good, but their state of life is happy." In all the materials, animals are happy 70% to 80% of the time. Even though the next meal has not yet arrived, but after this meal, the little snow leopards nuzzled their mother and nibbled her ears.
Lu Chuan said: "No matter how difficult life is, what supports them running in the sun and standing in the wind and snow is the joy of life itself, not the inner suffering. This is what I really see. . What my film wants to show is the bright side of their lives.”
Not only happiness, Lu Chuan also saw the progress of the relationship between man and nature during the filming process. Twelve years ago, animal protectors on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were working really hard. During the filming of "Kekexili", traces of hunting were constantly seen. Tibetan antelopes are like frightened birds: as soon as the car stops, their ears stand up, and as soon as the car door opens, they run away.
Now, nature reserves have been established, and residents and tourists have gradually become aware of conservation. People's attitude towards the Tibetan antelope gradually made the sheep feel at ease. The Tibetan antelope has a certain acceptance of cameras and people. Lu Chuan joked: "The mentality of the sheep has changed for the better."
What makes people feel even more warm is that in the subtitles of the movie trailer, it is written: part of the box office in the first week will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund Yes, to protect giant pandas and endangered snow leopards.
A movie is considered a success if it gives people the urge to make the world a better place.
